Sunday morning I woke up early to head to Lavon in hopes of running into Terry to show them some spots on the lake. Unfortunately, I never could catch up with them so I just fished some of my usual haunts. Although I managed 5 or 6 bass and a couple of monster crappie, the surfacing sandbass was too tempting and I filled a quick limit of large sandbass.

Around noon I called Connie to invite her and the kids out for an afternoon at the lake for the last day of summer and they came to the ramp. We went back to where I had caught the sandies and immediately the kids started catching fish. I was too busy taking fish off and dealing with them to do anything else. We boxed 6 or 7 nice fish out of the 25 or so they caught (I was only keeping if 12 inches or greater) and decided to go for a swim.

Coming off the heels of the olympics, the girls had to test their form at diving.

And of course the typical floating around and swimming in the cool water.

Being the die hard fisherman that I am, I took off away from the boat and tried a little float fishing... :-)

We ended the day with 34 nice sand bass in the ice chest to be cleaned when we got home and closed out a great day together.

It was a great afternoon at the lake with the family and a nice ending to the summer. The kids are back in school now and fall soccer will be starting soon. We did not spend nearly enough afternoons at the lake this year and I regret it. The girls had a blast climbing up into the boat and jumping off. I am sure they got more of a workout then they know...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Way to go Picou. If I were to bring home that many sandies, my wife would not know what to do.

Thanks everyone, I'm considering another run out there this weekend for some more sandbass action -- ultra-light topwater action... :-)

Looks like fun Mike. Don't forget the SPF 50 for the dome.
