For Dean, Hurricane Ike passed thru Spring Texas and downed a large tree on/into Dean's house. They were in bed sleeping when it happened and a 6 inch branch pierced the roof and stuck into the floor less than a foot from their bed. Thank you God for keeping them from harm in the storm! What they need now is prayers for strength and comfort throughout the coming months as they deal with the damage. The kids were very shaken up but are helping out as best as they can. Dean is keeping a positive attitute and is in good spirits considering what they are going thru. My mom & grandma -- West Houston, They did not suffer any damage from the storm but have been without power since Friday night. They are doing well and the neighbor has a large generator which he strung them a line to power the fridge and TV off of. They are patiently waiting the return of power. Connie's sister & husband, They live in Bridge City, Texas and their house was on the dirty side of the storm. They evacuated up here to Duncanville (Connie's mom's) and found out from the Sherrif that their house had water to the door handles. They have a lot of cleanup to deal with and could use all of the prayers for strength to get through this. They still cannot get home but were told they could come gather what they could on Tuesday. 90% of Bridge City was under water due to the storm surge from Ike. They do not know if there is any other damage to their house from the wind and debris. So, if you get a moment, please say a prayer for my family. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Mom said something about water on the south side of the intercoastal canal past Tunnel Blvd. I was not sure who lived where over there other than Aunt Thelma lives in Chauvin and from what I remember, the house is on stilts. I also heard that coffins were floating up in the cemetery in Bridge City, Texas... That would be a little unsettling to say the least -- have a coffin float up to your house... I doubt that we will be making our annual vacation to the West Beach next year. Seeing what happened to Surfside, I can only imagine it being worse closer to where the eye passed. I did see some houses right on the San Luis Pass (Treasure Island) that survived and looked no worse for wear... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

If they were on pilings then they are good in Chauvin. I'm wondering if your Aunt Thelma's house on Prospect St made it though due to I heard flooding was real bad where it is. Or does she not live there anymore? Quit being a mad, little bald man!

Mom & Grandma finally got power back on Sunday. Connie & her siblings teamed up and headed to Bridge City this past weekend to help their sister get all of the wet stuff out of her house and clean as best as they could. I have not talked to Dean in several days but they were staying with a neighbor while trying to get the tree out/off of the house. Not sure what the long term plans are, other than to fix the damage. I hope to talk to him tonight and see how they are doing. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
