LMAO Montano........

How about the "Team Montano" kicking but and taking 3rd in JCO at Fork on Saturday with their 9+ pound stringer..... Congrats guys!!!!! I'm just glad I wasn't fishing against ya'll!

Had a great time hangin out with Team Montano Friday night. The laughs are always plentiful in that setting. Thanks for the use of the minus-1 Jorge. The good news is that I never tied it on so it is in the same shape as you loaned it to me. :-)

I have to give Billy the props for Satuday. He and I spent some time chatting on Friday night about the art of drop shotting and he convinced me to really give it a try so I did. He really set me up and I fished all day with the drop shot and had great success. Of course, and this really hurts to say, I caught all of my fish on Grande Bass baits... Billy is trying hard to convert me and I may have to make some concessions... :-) Fortunately, the only thing I would be giving up to fish Grande stuff is Zoom stuff. I never threw a hard bait and only tried the bass bone for about 10 minutes later in the day.

Saturday was a rough day for me. Everything was going good fishing a main lake point out in the wind until I turned on the recirc pumps and nothing happened. Trying to fight the wind and deal with the livewells was troublesome to say the least. I finally anchored and spent about 15 minutes trying to get the pumps working to no avail. I spent a lot of time throughout the day jacking with the livewells -- opening the valves, draining some water, refilling, re-treating, etc... I bet I lost over an hour of fishing time messing with those. I checked the fuse box, checked the connections, checked the switch panel, checked everything but could not figure out why both pumps would not work. It really consumed me being concerned about the fish in there. Now there are two things on my boat not working properly -- trim gauge & live well recirc pumps.

Thanks again for the great time Friday Ozzie & Jorge, and a big thanks to Billy & Kay for their hospitality & coaching. I always enjoy spending time with ya'll.

Good job. Drop shot? Thought you boys were ball and chainers. When you think about it, its kinda funny to me. The first rig most of us ever threw the first time we went fishing was a drop shot with a worm on snelled hook above a sinker - they just didn't call it that. Guess they couldn't charge five bucks for a sinker or market a specialized rod and reel till it had a fancy name.

Congrats on the check PQ.

Im suprised you didnt switch to Grandebass earlier after Wes smashed you night fishing with the Mutant. Hahahaha!

In all seriousness, the baits are the real deal. My overall numbers of fish and size have gone up since fishing the baits.

They make a difference.

But, you cant use them in Media Teams PQ. You have to stay with the bone then!

I watched a fish spit out a mutant in the spring like taking a drink of sour milk. I flipped a JDC craw to that same fish immediately after that and she inhaled it. Kinda made it tuff to to throw GB stuff after that.

I cannot deny that the fish on Saturday ate that stuff up but I never threw any other brand to compare. Needless to say, I have confidence in the GB stuff after this experience and will at least throw the straight tail worms on my drop shots. Anything of Grande that I will be throwing is not in competition with the baits from JDC that I like to throw. Basically, just taking away from my zoom purchases... :-)

I've seen Charles catch plenty of fish on a mutant. Wes hammered them that night on the mutant, I've caught several fish on the rattlesnake. The fact that Sinkey even catches fish.......... Sometimes I am just stubborn... So far, 1 check with Grande Bass baits vs. 7 checks with JDC Baits.... Dance with the one that brought ya'... :-)

Yankee, you cannot have a GB patch but I'll give you a JDC Baits sticker for your Lund... :-)

PicOU,

You still in the Skeeter? If so you need to take your boat in and get all the pumps changed out, they are still under warranty. As for the trim guage. The problem is a little plastic piece that breaks really easy, they can replace it with a metal piece but a mechanic told me you then run the risk of the piece cutting the seals.
Good job on Fork.

My neighbor has one of the Big Lunds, he's from Colorado and it is his first boat.. He told me he gets some very discussed looks for other guys in bass boats..

He talks about getting a new Legend a lot now-a-dayz. I think he's embarrassed fishing it on Fork..
Honestly I've been out in bad weather and wished I was in a big boat like that before. Just not every day..

Is it white with green, saw that guy up Birch. Gotta have one on the big ponds. Ask the Elite guys if they wished they were in one after they got swamped on Erie.

We fished last Frrrrrriday up in Birch warmest water we could find was 58 all they wanted was dead sticked flukes. Funniest part of the day... "Whatd ya get em on a fluke? yep. ya move it? What Are you insane hell no ya can't friggin move it.

I was thinking I needed to bring it in on Monday to have that taken care of but I was too lazy to take everything out of it... :-) Thanks for the feedback Vince, that does give me an incentive to get everything back out of the boat and take it in for warranty work.

LOL Yank, what you describe is interesting. In the early spring when the fish are moving a lot it is almost required that you dead stick the fluke to get bit. The water temps are about the same right now as in the spring when this seems to be the only way to catch fish. When I start seeing a lot of cruisers in late February/early March I switch to this technique and catch quite a few fish.
