You guys are my "go to" guys. Im hoping you can help me out again. Has anyone ever used the BPS Johnny Morris Signature Series reels? What is the quality like? I've narrowed down my choices to this and the Quantum KVD1000HXD. The Johnny Morris is on sale so the prices are comparable. If its a quality product, I would prefer to buy the Johnny Morris. Both reels feel good to me, so Im looking at differences in quality. I know there are much better reels out there, but my skills are not good enough for a $300 reel to be any better than a $100-150 reel. Thanks for your help. Scott T

My experience is limited on the Johnny Morris reels but the one I did try was not good. This is my opinion on a limited sample size -- worked just fine at first but did not last long. Castability declined rapidly with use. I quit using it some time ago. I have never fished a Quantum reel that I can recall so I cannot give feedback on that one. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I have a high end Johnny Morris reel, it was given to me last year. I loaned a friend one of my rigs he tore the reel up, tried to get it repaired but couldn't so I ended up with the JMR.. Honestly---I was very disappointed in it's all around performance. The cheaper reels handled much better.. For the money and weight---with me weight is everything when it comes to outfits.. The revo would be my choice too. You would be surprised how much better you'll detect a bite with a light but capable rig. Mine are all under 13-15 oz. Rod and Reel combo Core 6.1 OZ. 50MG 5.6 oz G-loomis Rods all around 8-9 oz. ea. KBD Fishing

No experience with the Morris reels. Quantum has made some big improvements. I have within the last 2 yrs bought 2 quantum codes, 2 Quantum Accurist, and a Quantum Energy. All have been smooth durable reels but you can definitely tell you get what you pay for between each model. I think though If I had to be a reel totally based on price it would be a Shimano Cruxis however. Quit being a mad, little bald man!

The one revo I bought (when they first came out a couple years ago) was smooth as could be for about 2 months but just turned to junk quick. Apparently they don't like brackish to salty water based on these reviews or they have made improvements. The gears corroded up like no reel I have ever seen. Quit being a mad, little bald man!

Thanks, guys. Once again, you came through. Sounds like my choices were not that good, you saved me from wasting my money. The revos at BPS are a little high. Can anyone recommend a store where I can get a better deal? Scott T

Reel Sellers on Ebay have saved me a lot of money on my Cores and MG's usually 75-100 bucks. Some are out right buys, and others are Bid wars.. All were new in the box.. KBD Fishing

The last reel I bought was a Curado E7. The E7 is the high speed. 7.0:1 Cameron at Lake Fork Marina had them for $160 shipped to your door. I have mostly Shimano reels and more than happy with them. Durable and worth the cash. Thanking the Lord, all day long --- tomc

Tom, next time you head to BPS give me a call and I will meet you there. I trust your advice much more than the salesman. He seemed to be steering me to the Johnny Morris, and I dont like what Im hearing about those. At least with you, I know Im getting an honest opinion about each reel. Most of the reviews I read on the JM were very similar to PQs. Great out of the box, but quickly turns to junk. Scott T
