That looks great Dean, hopefully I will make it down there and we can do some fishing. I sure wish you would come up here and go bass fishing with me. We still need to do that striper guide like we talked about last year. I hear that November is a great time for stripers.

Maybe mom will keep the kids for a day and we can go do some fishing. It is just hard for me not to use my available time deer hunting this time of the year.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Greg, I'm Ready!! Although the trout are hard to find right now. My focus these days is on the flatties!! If you will be in town on a week day - let me know! I'd love to go!

Charles, So far Travis has been super about resolving issues! The biggest problem I have is a continuation of failing components. Today I had to fix the trim tabs (I actually did it myself which is pretty good for me!!) because a wire had come loose - they were not working at all. Ranger has been responsive to the issues but I still have not reached a point of "satisfied" with the product. I will say though - the more I use it the more I like it!

Thanks all for the compliments!

Took the wife out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We fished the jetties, channel, and off shore on Saturday - and went shopping and stuff like that. She cought a 11lb Red, 12lb Red, a few flounder and some sand trout. Off shore we cough some snapper and spade fish. Too bad snapper season is closed because we let a bunch go! We had a great trip! Left the camera again!! I gotta quit doing that!

Mike - Stripper trip sounds good to me. Right now is flounder season and I expect the fish to really start moving soon. I cant miss that! My favorite time of year! I expect to see the action into the early to mid December. If you can make it down here I will definately take you. If you want and/or mom can't, Susie might be wanting to take your girls for a day?? Let me know!

Does anyone know how and where to successfully catch Strippers in - say - January? We can pool a few boats together and get 2-4 persons per boat? I'll bring mine up!

You seem to be well versed in the stripper catagory there Rudey... You must be in sales.

Audra & Keith are probably the ones to tell about catching stripers but they are probably tied up in deer hunting right now.

Charles... You go on your guide trips in the winter?

Texoma is excellent in January. Bait is easy to catch in Lowe's Marina. Usually takes me one cast with the net to get all the bait I need and I don't throw a net very good. Then head to the river channel and start watching the fish finder for schools of fish. Anchor up and put a shad down. You don't have to wait long to have the rod nearly pulled out of you hand. Never know what you'll catch either. I went out one time in Jan. and caught sripers, sandbass, catfish and crappie all in the same spot. Couldn't beleive it. It must have been my lucky day since I've never done it again. Usually just catch stripers and catfish. Anyway I would be up for a group trip if I'm not hunting or working.
I see my rod is longer than yours.

Rudey, I have never been to one of those places (although it would probably be interesting)! Dont think my lovely bride would approve nor would my ultimate leader.

We should try to put a trip together in January for Stripers! What hunting season(s) are open in January that we need to work it around? Can anyone do it on a weekday?

I can throw a net pretty fair! Good to know we don't need to buy bait! Any good lodging around the ramp?

There are plenty of hunting seasons still open in January -- duck, quail, extended antlerless deer, etc...

I am definately game for a Texoma trip in January. I plan on tagging out this weekend anyway... :-)

I have a cast net also and can thow it well.

There are plenty of hotels in Denison. That is the closest town of any size. There are also some cabin rentals at some of the marina's around the lake. I can do it on a weekday but it would have to be a thursday or friday. Also does anyone have a shad or bait tank. I have found that my livewell does not work when trying to keep bait alive. Bait dies and leaves a big mess in bottom of the well. Best tanks are round or oval with an areator of some type.

Shad tend to bunch up in the corners and die. I am thinking we will have to do some homemade cheap tanks -- 10 gallon bucket or something with a suction cup air pump or something like that.

Never done a guide trip in January Mike.

Depending on when this trip takes place I'm good to go and will bring my boat.

I will keep at it. I am hoping to take my girls with me this weekend to the lease. I really need some deer meat for the house. It is getting close to time to make some deer chili. :-)

I been going over to my lease in cooke county once or twice a week. I've passed on a young buck and a doe hoping that a bigger buck would show. I'm also heading to mason in a couple of weeks. Hope to pick up a deer or two there.
