Ok,
So I'm out at the lake Saturday morning. the boat is running great as usual. Well, I went to put the boat back on the trailer when something strange happen.
When I goosed the throttle to put it up on the trailer, the boat motor jumped out of gear.I tried to return it to neutral and it went back. I tried forward again and it just wouldn't go in gear.So I tried to put it in reverse. Nothing :-(.

I put it up on the trailer by hand and started pulling out. I then realized that the boat needed about four more inches to be on the trailer good.
So I back back down, and while I'm pushing it on I decide to start the motor up and try once again to put it in gear.
The same thing happened. It sounds like the gears aren't quite meshing together? I did have reverse when I tried it this time.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?

It's to close to Christmas for me to get it fixed any time soon :-(. I would like to get a idea on what the cause might be.
Thanks
Shaun

Yea, it will be a couple weeks before I can afford to take her in to have someone take a look.
The company I work for shut down for two weeks at Christmas.:-(

Nice to have the time off, but it's hard when it's unpaid. I'll post the problem diagnosis when there's a positive money flow again.:-)

Ok, so I had someone came over and look at the motor tonight.
He looked the motor over, and then went to the linkage. He said that the boat had recently had a motor put on the boat.
Apparently the previous owner had burnt the first motor up and replaced it.
He thought that the linkage might not had been adjusted properly when the replacement motor was put on.

He also said that when I slightly bumped the concrete ramp it might not have been in gear all the way.Causing it to bump out of gear and to chip at little metal off.
Anyway, he adjusted the cables and it feels right now.
I pulled the drain plug and found no water in the lower end. The motor oil looked very clean for me running it as hard as I did last year. There were two very small pieces (1/4" long x .003"thick) of metal found when the drain plug was removed.

He advised me to take to the lake and try it out on the trailer first. He showed me how to adjust the linkage if needed but felt pretty sure that it was just in the linkage at this point. Whew,..........
I've got my fingers crossed. And am hoping it will be God's will for this to be all thats wrong with the motor.
It's time to have the boat on the water already.!!!!!! Fishing season is knocking at our door.

Whelp....I just got back from the lake and she's running like a top!!! I guess the cables just needed to be adjusted?
Man am I thankful. not sure if it was God's priority for me to have my boat back, but I sure am glad I do. I guess I need to get some graphics on the side of that boat that says JESUS SAVES!!! :-)
