Saw in the Dallas Morning News this morning where Fork yielded the first Share-A-Lunker of the new season. It was a 13 something...I'll have to go back and look at the details.

But, what I found interesting is that they said this is the very first October fish from Fork to make the Share-A-Lunker. I find that pretty amazing, seeing how fat the fish start getting around here in the fall.

Big fish season must be upon us. Most of the big sow trout are caught during the cooler months on the coast.
Love to fish and hunt.

That reminds me, Greg, I forgot to give the details on this...

quote:

Lake Fork yields season's first ShareLunker

Danny McBride of Hatchett, Ark., got Texas Parks and Wildife's Budweiser ShareLunker program off to a running start Friday when he caught a Lake Fork largemouth bass weighing 13.16 pounds.

McBride's fish is the first October entry ever from Lake Fork. During the program's 17 seasons, only four other lunkers have been caught in October.

McBride's fish fell for a Carolina-rigged plastic worm fished about 12 feet deep. The big bass was 25 inches long by 21 inches in girth. The ShareLunker program uses live and healthy bass weighing 13 pounds or more as brood fish at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.

To report a lunker, call 903-681-0550 or dial the program pager number, 1-888-784-0600, and enter your phone number.

Very nice fish indeed. Maybe I should be fishing this weekend instead of deer hunting...

Nah... There are plenty more where that one came from. :-)
