Are you ready, it's already upon us by my reckoning. The bigger fish are making a showing already on Fork. I'm pumped for the 09 season, it's been 8+ years since the LMBV virus and our fish should be ready for the catching. I can only hope one of our crew lands a SAL this year that would be fantastic... Get out and get out often for your shot at a fish of a life time.
Good luck to someone out there, I hope it's you.

Maybe......heck you never know. Some of the biggest fish I have seen caught have made me go uhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Just goes to show anyone's got a chance to catch a sow. Just got to be in the right place at the right time. Heck the biggest fish that was caught out of my boat last year. My brother caught on a jig, in a tree that I had done thought I worked over like a banjo......never know when your gonna have to get the NET. That's what makes this sport truely awesome!

Zach you may not believe this but ........ I've been throwing some BIG swim baits lately. I like the Mann's 5.5 hard nose on a 5/0 weighted hook and some of the really Big 3:16 swim baits with a 7/0 LFT weighted hook. We won some as a door prize some time back and one day I said what the heck and started throw them.. I will say this about that type of BIG bait, you don't get as many bites ---but when you do, they knock the Crud out of that sucker. What a rush-woooweeeee.

That's right, you can call me SwimBaitBilly from now on.. hehehehehehe !! NOT.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA thats good right there. There aint nothing like it when they it that mofo is there?

Last year I was on some S Bait fish and had my wife throwing one of those big 3:16.....she was like will I know when they hit it........haha I said you'll know for sure.

In a bout 2 secs she goes dang I think I just hit a tree and am hung up.....bout that time the ever so awesome look of the line slowly moving to the right occured and I new whe had big momma on. She weighed just under 10 but pretty good for July. Now I can't get her to throw anything else besides that bait. Her words exactly are "It just looks so good in the water".

My mamma always told me....If it looks good, and smells good,....then son it's gotta be good.

Right there SWIMBAITBILLY? hahahahahahaaha

Oz,

I've had success with the storm wild eye down there. Be sure a dip the tail and maybe paint the belly too.

If the lake is full you want to tick the top of the hay grass in the valleys.

I have little knowledge in the field of swim baits.. I was impressed with the CHEAPness--price wise of the Mann's hard nose 5.5 baits
they come with a BIG hook too. Their like 4.95 pk of 4. One thing on some of the big 3:16 baits
they tend to rise to the top of the water column
quickly that may be OK in Mexico right now OZ.
Here in the cold water we have, I've been putting a big split shot weight about 1-1-1/2 up the line to help keep the bait in the 3-5 foot range on a slow retrieve. It's helped, I may go bigger with the weight in the future.

It's been fun playing with these Monster catcher baits.. Diversity is good thing..

Spent an awful lot of cash trying to find the best swimbait hook. So far these work the best for me: Owner 5130W Beast Weighted Swimbait Hooks. You can use 1/8 to 1/2 ounce belly weight to adjust the depth and rate of fall and you can move the weight up and down the shank after ya work on it a while with a pair of pliers to adjust the fall from diving head first or completely horizontal.
