Welcome to the ramp Crwndrnkr....

It has been several years since I hit some of the ponds here in North Texas for stocked rainbows but I use to hit it in the morning and my best bait was small in-line spinners. I would guess that some of the Berkley prepared baits would work also fished under a cork maybe 12 or 14 inches with a small hook.

Where are you going to try you luck at?
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Welcome to the site Crwndrnkr !!!
I'm not a huge trout fisherman. But I always used the Berkley eggs. They worked well for me.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

If your fishing for the state stocker trout. Light spinning reel for casting use small rooster tail or cp swing type spinners, fuzzy grubs, weighted wooly buggers, super dupers work good too. For bottom fishing small slpit shot rig with small hook and the berkley eggs, salted minnows, small worms, or canned corn - but the secret bait is maggots yep their nasty but when they don't hit nothin else put three or four maggots or wax worms (Yankees call em spikes use em for ice fishing) on the hook - if your niece still likes fishin after puttin them on and catchin em she'll be a fishermen fo sho. Berkley Gulp even makes fake maggots but they don't wiggle wriggle and slither around too good.

Ozzie, simple but effective that's the best trout spinner ever made, fished the east koy, wiscoy, ischua, creeks my whole life when all else failed the swing would make your day. Used the blue/chrome cleo's up on the Great Lake tribs. almost exclusively.
