My response is still the same:

1.25 hrs to Fork...
or.....
3+ to Conroe
8+ to Amistad
8+ to Falcon
4+ to Ivey
3+ to Rayburn
3+ to Toledo

I think I will stick with the closer lake... :-)

Imagine what must be waiting to be caught and weighed at a fertile lake like Fork.

To bad those fish don't read the same books we do or I'd already have one in the SAL program LOL...

I did get some serious Jig fishing in this past weekend, my dang arm is sore. It was fun, we typically don't fish that style much.

I have a different approach to the **BIG ONE FISH** tournaments this year.
I'm swinging for the fence in everyone this year.

I'll still be fishing for the fat unders in all the 5-fish stringer T's, but for the most part a jig will on the end of my rod for the Big single fish tourney's..

You gotta have a plan, and that's mine for 09.

No sense wasting a day driving when I can be fishing instead... :-) The fishing might be really good at Falcon, but it ain't worth the drive to me.

I'll make it down there eventually and I am sure I will have a great time and get my arm broken on monster fish. I am sure once I leave I will want to go back over and over again. But, it will always be easier to go to Lake Fork for me and thus... I will always prefer going there over any other lake in Texas -- unless the bass fishing on Lavon improves... :-)

I'll definately go with ya'll and riding with one of ya'll is the best option for sure... I am just bringing a baseball bat in case Jamie gets marker happy... :-)

BTW Grant... Why are you driving all the way to Falcon when you have Conroe less than an hour away. That lake has been producing some monsters the last 3 years and now a spot in the Texas Top 50... At least 3 double digit fish this year that I have heard about.

B/C I can't catch a fish out of that lake. It has always had big fish but if you don't know it you may as well drive 6 hours. Plus those Falcon fish fight like crazy and you catch a number of 6 to 9 pound fish in one trip. Conroe it tuff lake no grass just brush and you have got to know where it's at to catch anything.

Plus Conroe has a tone of jet fleas and ski boats if you are not off the water by 10:00am you will wish you had plus the bulk heads it's like a big bath tub with all the waves. I will drive to Falcon catch 40 to 50 fish and a few 8 pounders a day and leave Conroe to someone else I am not scared to drive LOL!!!

Picou it was not Jamie with the marker? And not me as well so I will keep you guessing. Come on down and go fish Falcon you will love it. I will let you know when we go tell Red Skeeter to come as well. You know we like to have a good time. FYI the rod is almost done just waiting on Jamie.

Looking forward to fishing that rod Grant, I have a feeling it will fit the bill just perfectly. I need to sell some of this other stuff I have so I can afford to put me a Core on it... /clipart{biggrin}

It is hard to change styles. Took me a while last year to get into small fish mode. I am trying to get into big fish mode this year and last trip I found myself throwing the same stuff I throw in tourneys trying to catch unders...... Maybe I am in no-fish-mode????

I think I am going to have to leave every reel with less that 20lb fluoro at home and force myself to throw the jig rod and bigger baits. And I'll probably end up throwing a trap all day....
Thanking the Lord, all day long
