Well just as the title says " What trolling motor are you using" ? I have a 1993 665 motor guide that I just replaced the switch for last week. Now I have another switch thats gone out on the foot control. It's a 24v 55lb TM.It does great in winds under 15mph. But I'm thinking about a 70+ for the next TM. So what TM are ya'll having luck with? I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phil 4:13

It's been Motorguide for the past 18-years, I had heck with the last one like Dennis has a 109. It ran good for about 4-years then one problem after another during competition all right in a row. I switched to a Minnkota 101, not sure I like it yet and it's been a year. It's huge-- looks like a Volkswagen on the bow, the foot pedal is plastic, and it's not as responsive as the MG in my opinion. KBD Fishing

I always had and liked motorguide. Trolling motor debates are like ford vs. chevy. Each have positives and negatives. BTW: I have a motorguide I'll sell you. It's 72 or 74 lbs. If interested I'll post the specs and a picture or two. |

Well after much pricing out TM's I have to say good heavens at the prices!!!!I had no idea :0 . I went to Cabela's to look at their motors. Or should I say lack there of? They had a few on stands there, but mostly there were just empty places for motors to be sat. I then went to Bass pro and found a great selection. I spent a long time looking at the heavier poundage motors but ended up with a 70 lb model. I went with a Minn Kota Maxxum 70. It had a pretty cool feature called the bowguard 360.It breaks away on impact from any angle, then automatically resets itself. with the heavier cover that I started fishing in it's a pretty good feature for me. anyway thanks for the input. I'm hopping I didn't mess up getting just the 70lb thrust instead of the 100+. I guess time will tell I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phil 4:13

You will be happy with that TM Shaun. I think it's the same as the one I have. Sometimes I wish I had the 80 lb but quite honestly it has done me well the last couple of years. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
