I too struggle when these drastic changes in weather occur. Honestly, I believe that I over react. Some of the things to remember: Water temperature this time of year is key as to where the fish will be located. The water in the back of the creeks took a nose dive with the cold rain and cold temps. If the fish did not leave, they definately nosed down into the cover and had no desire to bite. The only way to get those fish to bite is a reaction bait. Another factor on post frontal fishing is that the barometric pressure is usually rising after a big front and this is really bad for fishing. Fish will bite during rising pressure but you either have to be moving the bait super super slow and soak it in front of them or a fast presentation that causes a reaction bite. Even on a post frontal day, the pressure will stabalize and even fall for a short time. This is when the bite will really be great and if you are where the fish are it's on... Hope this helps... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Any cold front, especially one like we had last week should call for a knee jerk reaction. Many of us have fished in the aftermath, and are all too familiar with our results which were typical come weigh in time Saturday. Kay and I try to think out of the box a little when things like that happen, don't always work, but we know for sure what will happen if we ignore the conditions, and fish on like normal and pray a lot. To be honest, prayers haven't put very many limits in the live wells in post frontal conditions. Ask yourselves, what was working ? will it still work ? if not, what now ? What now is !! the best time ever to gamble in an event. You know the day is going to sux if you don't do something--right !! Fall holds an entirely different scenario over the spring cold fronts. In the spring when the fish are being pushed to the banks by mother nature the desire is great. But a 20'degree temperature change in the bedding areas has a greater effect in pushing them out. What we looked at, and surmised was, fish the areas of the lake that would be least affected by a major temperature change, of course those areas needed to hold fish before the front. If they did, those would be the fish we'd try and catch. The numbers of fish down south were far inferior to the numbers up north.. But hey, I'd rather have 1 fish that'll bite verse's 10 that won't. The plan worked for the most part, again we didn't win, but we had a decent sack of weigher's that was hard fought for. It was a fish or 2 here, and a fish or 2 there, much like we expected, and like we expected again, the fish that were there ..Bit. It was lot of luck on our part, and like I said earlier, a great time to gamble, what else you got to do.. Not catch a fish ?? KBD Fishing
