My wife uses a Shamino spinning reel for slip cork fishing in deep water. This thing constantly throws loops of line. i have replaced the line and its still doing the same thing. i always fish with bait casting reels and this doesn't happen on them. What is wrong. I've had that before on a old spinning real of mine. I had to much line on mine. You might try taking off twenty feet or so, and see if it still does it. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phil 4:13 | ||||||||||||

Look at Ghost Minnow go... This is an ongoing battle with my kids spinning gear. The loop gets there after a cast and the bail is closed when the line is half around the spool. You reel over this and the next cast or two it starts to get a tangle that is a pain to pull out. If you get her in the habit of checking the spool after each cast or simply pulling the line a little before closing the bail most of the time it will keep it to a min. The root could be one of two things... Too much line or too big of line. The first thing I would try is as GM suggested and take off some line. I like to have 1/16th to 1/8 of an inch of spool showing to help prevent this. The second thing would be back off to 8 lb test. Hope this helps Bluecat. These "backlashes" in a spinning reel are going to happen no matter what you do, just do all that you can to keep them in control.  Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Try spooling the spinning reel with the spool of line laying flat on the ground not upright you want the line on the reel to be laying the same way it was put on the spool. Try to always close the bail with your hand not the crank on the reel and make sure the line is setting in the right place before you start reeling it in. | ||||||||||||

When spooling, try what Yank said and if the line starts to twist as your spooling it up, turn the spool of line over. It is important to get the line on without being twisted Thanking the Lord, all day long --- tomc |
