Since I had off on Friday and the kids had to go to school I was going to take a friend from Church to Fork. Unfortunately I found out Thursday that I had to pick the kids up for early release at 1:00PM so going to Fork was out. We were going to hit lake "X" but with the wind on Friday decided to go just a little further to what I am calling lake "Z".

Even with the howling NW winds this little lake was suprisingly calm. Having never been on the lake we idled across to the protected side and immediately started catching fish. In the four and a half hours we fished we ended up boating 18 fish.

Most of the fish were in the 2 to 2.5 pound range. Bill had a good one on that was 4 to 5 pounds but he broke off near the boat. Since he lost that fish I finally got to catch the biggest fish for the day -- 4-05.

Since we could not get to the reeds because of the heavy concentration of "snot moss" we focused on the outside grass line and top of the grass between 6 - 10 foot. We caught all of our fish on the drop shot with watermelon red finess worms. Bill had never fished this technique but he learned quick and had a great time. He doesn't get to fish much so it was a real treat for him to get out in the boat and catch some fish. I had a great time fishing that little lake and look forward to taking the kids back for some of that great action.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

The clearer of the two Tex.... HotfootG3 has been telling me to try fishing there for a couple of years now. Glad I took his advice.

I am looking forward to getting the kids out there because the fishing was great and we only covered a small part of the lake. The wind was blowing on more than half of the shoreline so we left it alone.

I prefer coffee in the morning. Lake Z gives me too much green after taste.

hoosier... I have been considering a camping trip there with the wife, kids, and horses. Stay at the equestrian facilities and fish while they ride... Sleep in the horse trailer at night. :-)

They get to ride, I get to fish... win-win all the way around. hehehehe
