When my motor made all those awful noises at takeoff my first thought was lower unit. I even pulled up to the dock, lifted the motor, turned the shaft, and other things looking for signs that the lower unit was damaged.

At weigh-in when I described the problem to people everyone told me it was probably a blown power head so I assumed it was a power head.

I just got off the phone with Tommy at Plano Marine and they diagnosed the problem to the lower unit only. He said it needs a new lower unit and the power head is fine.

I have already started a claim for the prop shaft and Tommy is faxing them the estimate and ordering the lower unit -- Thank goodness for insurance.....

Said 4 - 5 days to get the lower unit and another day to install. Should have the boat back well before the Skeeter Owner's tournament.

Still have to address the trolling motor issue but I can probably get that addressed by the Minn-Koto folks at the Owner's T.

I was worried considering my warranty apparently expired in February....
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Cool. Get the trolling motor fixed before the skeeter also since you have time. I am just glad I don't have to drag my boat up there now.

Yep I once thought the same thing and it was the lower unit...Fishing line is a killer on the seals and once water invades it all down hill...

Good news indeed PQ, I know you've been fretting heavy over this whole deal.

I blew my lower unit Mid-day Sunday of the 06
McDonald's tournamnet right in front of the alley
to wolf creek.. I'll never forget it.
The smells and the noise was unreal to say the least. I was certain I blew the power head, for some reason about an hour after the fact, I turned the key just too see what would happen.....

Low and behold it fired right off, holly smokes it's healed itself...... Wrong... The gearshift was mute, it didn't matter which way you moved it,nothing was there. It took me over a month with the insurance company and the loan was in Cali, I had to go thru hell before I could get the check cleared for the dealer.. Don't count your Skeeter tourney before you get both sig's on the ck..
The loan maker was in no particular hurry--it was just business as uaual for them. They don't have time lines---unless you owe them... FYI.

Good luck Bro.

Thats Rhodes Einstein see below: So move your name next to Sinkey's and mine next to Billy's. Cause I'm a fricken genius. OH yeah and stop followin me around.

The Rhodes Scholarships, the oldest international fellowships, were initiated after the death of Cecil Rhodes in 1902, and bring outstanding students from many countries around the world to the University of Oxford. The first American Scholars entered Oxford in 1904.

They may need to change the name to:

ZEET's Scholar.........or I got it

maybe name only the top fishermen on Fork a Zeet's Scholar!

That would still leave you and Sinkey out there bud........sorry but you can re-apply through out the year.

To become a Zeet's Scholar please send your applications to Billy or I.....we'll go over them and see if you qualify for this upper eshilan of Bass fishing.

I can't help but laugh at ya'll....

BTW Yankee... I always wondered where the "Rhodes Scholar" phrase came from so thanks for posting.

If a requirement in becoming a Zeet's Scholar consists of "closing the bar" before a tournament then I must regretfully decline the opportunity to apply.....

Now Now Picou......."closing the bar"?

That may be something you need to try?????????.......slows you down and work your bait with the right amount of action.

Sinkey's trying to get a grant from mommy and daddy so he can attend......he payed for a tutor last weekend and I really think he's coming around. could move up from the J V to the Varsity in a couple more sessions.

Another course Picou that might be beneficial and you may take a look at is Engine/Tolling Motor Repair...we only offer this in the fall though cause we want our stuff running in tip top shape.

Picou here's a list of classes you also may want to consider during your time at the school:

-how to set your alarm before tourney 101 fall spring/fall semester
-working a bass bone 201 spring only
-weighing in more than 5 fish for 2.72 spring/fall semester
-shirt design 102 spring semester
-how to edit posts on the FTN 101 fall/spring semester
-Dip netting 202 fall/spring semester

Ouch, dang PQ, Zeeter hit a nerve with that volley. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

All in all I think the gang has done some good things this year on the tournament trails.
Chuck and Tommy kick'n behind in the early spring. They were whip'n us bad too.
PQ and Oz were right there many times, not talking about the one time, success comes in many forms, like learning new techniques etc..
NYY and NABB, are as competitive as any team on the circuit. Don't forget they just put an Over in the boat, their time may lay just ahead.

What can I say about Zach and J-Mill, they've made enough money this year to stuff a mattress.
Kay and I just keep plugg'n along, trying to keep up with y'all. It's been ineresting to say the least.
Now that Sinkey has that wrap off the boat, I expect him to shine, with some coaching from Zach
and some $ 100.00 bar tabs the night before an event LOL..

-how to set your alarm before tourney 101 fall spring/fall semester

It's not the setting of the alarm.... It's the waking up to it.....

-working a bass bone 201 spring only

I should be teaching that class

-weighing in more than 5 fish for 2.72 spring/fall semester

For the record it was 5 for 2.84

-shirt design 102 spring semester

I'll never get talked into doing that again

-how to edit posts on the FTN 101 fall/spring semester

you're still bitter about that huh.... :-)

-Dip netting 202 fall/spring semester

Finally... A course I could benefit from.... That is not something I get a lot of practice at on the lake. But I sure can lead a fish to the net... hehehehe.... :-)
