In the Farmers March of Dimes charity tournament.

I murdered my fish and withdrew at 11:40 am.

With boat in tow I looked for the nearest lunch buffet, then home to cool off and get in a short nap... Very expensive lesson.

We had a limit early and kept thinking we'd upgrade once we moved out deep. Well that never happened, we kind of forgot about the fish.

To make matters worse, I pumped water in... but never turned the recirk on.. Those fish were doomed with 91' surface temps.

At 10:30 I opened the lid and saw 4-floaters and the 5-th fish, the biggest was in quick pursuit of the other 4.

So we tossed all the fish and loaded up, we were done.

Lessons learned this year have been many, even an experienced tournament angler can goof up.

**That's an understatement if ever there was one.**

Dang, that just sucks big time Billy but we all "Goof up" Heck I remember Ike a few years back having the same issue!!

Yep, this time of year live wells put a big hurting on our fish...I heard of a 15 pounder on T-Bend that "bit it" during a tournament last week. I bet we lose a bunch of fish even when they swim away! I beleive these big tournaments late in the year hurt our fish populations...More so with the Big Girls :-)

Nope... No profanities thrown around, we both had THAT look on our faces when we discovered what had happened.. You know the**OH NO!!!What have we done*** Df is right, never have I let anything like that happen in competition..

Lessons learned this year are :

1. Always get you biggest fish weighed ** no matter what** in case of a DQ of another team.

2. Ask for a re-weigh if you disagree with the scales when they lock on.

3. Never, never take fish care for granted even in cooler water temps.

4. Never pay any attention to Zeet and the Yankster's comments about me being old and loosing it .. LOL...

Remembering stuff aint easy anymore just this year I have left the trolling motor down when taking off, backed down the ramp without taking the straps off or puttin the plug in, left the keys to the boat home, lost my license bought a new one then found it, broke a rod that was laying across the trolling motor mount, lost the keys to the truck in the boat - someone actually put my trailer on his truck to help pull me out, Now I'm depressed someone just please shoot me.

Not trying to bash anyone here but isnt tossing dead fish illegal?
Maybe they were floating and not dead yet?

They were white, unfit to eat in my opinion.. Eldon Stoudt the TD informed us at take off he was keeping the expired fish for a fish fry that day.
He didn't want them, tossed is a relative term.
Those fish were done, way over done.

Dormancy to survive heat is called "aestivation." Haven't been in 2 weeks. Gettin twithchy so had Fun N Sun put my old ice fishing hut on the front deck with full AC, a camper fridge with a 1/4 keg, and one of them water spray machines - pickin it up today. Everything still seems backwards down here, Stayin inside in the summer is ft up. Don's doin the family thing. Be down Saturday and/or Sunday stealth as a sniper jumpin summer holes.
