We're actually going some where other than Lake Fork for a few days.. South Padre Island/Port Isabel is the planned destination. I have my 3-surf rods rigged with 25-lb main line and some 50-lb leader with some Owner 7-8/0 circle hooks ready for whatever my cast net will catch for bait. If we get into some sharks I have some 6' steel leaders too. Mainly trying to get the baits out to at least the second gut, Dave(one of the guys were going with) the crazy fool, will swim out with the bait to the 3-rd gut."NUTZ" Also taking 3-spinning rods, and 2-bait casters for wading the surf and bay. One day offshore, one day on a bay trip, the rest of the time, surf fishing will be my main source of entertainment.... And lots of BEER. LOL... That was for you Chuck... LOL... I haven't been down there in a while, I know we have some regulars to the gulf here, so any info or advice you can share would be muchly appreciated. I'm not as good as Rob with a camera, but I'll take some shots if the moment arises. KBD Fishing

Go gett'em Billy... Nothing has changed and everything you ever knew about fishing down there is still the same.... You got the camera, that'll be a great time to practice on the photo skills. Good luck and be safe my friend. Looking forward to the recap! Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Have fun Billy. Me and my son Nick went tuna fishing off Grand Isle two weeks back, 25lb red snappers 50 miles out and 80lb yellow fin tuna on top waters 12o miles out. It was magical...... |

I bet it was Dennis, Tuna on Top Waters, that's something you have to see to believe.. Awesome.. An 80 lb YFT will put a whoop'n on you, and your tackle. Man, those things are strong. KBD Fishing

I fought one for an hour plus only to have a shark eat everything but the head right at the boat. There is no mistaking a yellow fin bite or fight. Watches yelow fins take flying fish in mid air. For my 1st time out catching tuna and the whippin those fish put on you, I'm not sure when I will do it again. I mean it's fun but I had no strength left to pick up a beer. |

LOL... I know that's right, I hooked one at 7:30 am ---landed it at 8:45am it went 87 lbs. Told the crew, I'm done,-that's it,-no more for me. Couldn't stand it, around 2:00 pm a big school came up at BoomVang, made another run at them, hooked up, and the fight was on again 55-mins later I had a 63-lber in the boat, I was absolute toast, fried, wore plum out, my arms were shaking so bad, I couldn't raise my them above mid-chest. **But it was a good hurt.. LOL** If you've never caught a big YFT, you've never hooked anything like it in your life--unreal. PS. It's heII getting them into those lil cans too. LOL.... KBD Fishing
