What's the best value for an general purpose bassin baitcaster? - it'll be used for rat traps, plugs, top waters- spinners - Jigs.
I'll go braid I think. I'll probably pick up two but dont want junk, and certainly dont want "mad crazy bass addict, with money spilling out the butt" equipment either. I reel LH if that makes any difference. Thanx in advance.....

("lighting a fuse on dynamite -dont go tic tic" made me spit my coffee up when I read it- you guys are pretty tough on each other - its funny though- I like it. I think I saw something about a "wrinkled old bag of tits" or something like that -- made me laugh out loud as well)

I throw da traps on the revo S elder less expensive and more forgiving for than the revo STX for yankee's used to having that upside down and backwards spinning reel in there hand. The STX is a freakin spool burnin freak that ya can throw a mile, but ya gotta have it dialed in perfect. If you get to greedy with the STX it will hurt you hard with a backlashin mess especially with fluro or braid, so if your gonna use braid and change lures alot I'd go with the S.

Elder... For the money, in my opinion, you cannot beat the Simano Citica. I've got several different Curados, an MG, a Castaic, and Citicas. For $119 I am very impressed with the performance of the Citica.

I have zero experience with the Revo and have heard several who love them for the first year then hate them after that. Maybe they are buying the bottom of the line or something but too many people have said they do not like them after heavy use and that is enough to keep me away from them.

have had Revos for several years. As Yank says, the S isvery forgiving and you can hum a crack a mile. the SX & STX are better for the lighter, wieghtless. have used the Citica, found it to perform similar to the Revo S. guess it depends on whether you are a Shimano or Abu guy. both have performed and lasted for me.

Thanks guys- I pulled the trigger- I got a matched set of Zebco 202's

I cant figure how to mount them though - I screw them on the rod, -- and with the reel in its proper place (below the seat), the handle cranks backwards.
;)

I'll bring them if I come visit Fork next month.

The pole I'm still working on

I need something to toss a Daredevil, or a Phoebe a long ways.

It'd be my pleasure if I could meet any of you fine gents -- especially the fellow you call "Zeeter". (He has either, the biggest bass pic in the sidebar --------- or the longest arms)

;)

Making my list.

1) Drawl decipher code book
2) Beano (for after the bar-b-que)
3) Blinders (we do not actually see any 'woman flesh' for months and months at a time up here- it can be distracting)
4) Red Sox, Hat- Shirt - toothbrush - and drink cozy
5) Build up my resistance to country music so I have a chance when Rick starts singing "twang, twanggidy, twang, twang" for most the day on the boat.

I'll be ready.

Loose the Red Sox Hat. Bring a 65 lbs braid ball n chain rig to drag around on the bottom of everything, wear some pretty patches on your shirt, hub cap belt buckle, leave dentures at home, and bring some real (non-lite)canadian (non-lite) beer and spiedie sauce. And sorry Elder the women down here cover up if its blazin 70 degrees out.
