Took a much needed day off yesterday and went to Lake Fork with my neighbor for a day of fishing and beer drinking. Got out to the lake around 10:00am and launched up at Hidaway in hopes of staying out of the wind. The fishing started off great with the first bite within 10 minutes of putting the boat on the water. Water temps were between 58 - 64 in the places we went and we caught fish everywhere -- muddy water, clear water, windy areas, calm areas. It was soooooooooo nice to get out on the water with no pressures and just catch fish. We ended up in one area and found a protected pocket that had 64 degree water. The Costa 580 lenses paid off because I could see some fish that looked to be on a bed. They were acting like it but I could not see the bed. I figured the fish to be 4 - 5 pounds and she was acting catchable so I messed with her and hooked up within a couple of minuts. I was pleasantly suprised that she was actually a 7 pounder -- 7.4 lbs. Saw a few more in the that pocket but they were not ready. About the Costa's, without the glasses it was just a muddy mess. With my old polarized wally world glasses I could see a little deeper. The Costa 580 lenses gave significantly deeper visability. I could not see the fish with my walmart glasses but could see them with the Costa's. Well worth the money I spent on them!!!!!!!! We fished till almost dark and had a great time. Well, up until the boat hit that stump when I was turning the nose with the trolling motor (on high). It finally happened and I can now say that I have fallen out of my boat.... Fortunately I grabbed the side of the boat on my way in and only got wet from the chest down. Of course, Matt got a pretty good laugh at me after he grabbed my cell phone and powered it off. We got back to the ramp and coincidently Charles was loading up with his buddies right behind us. Since I did not have a change of clothes Charles gave me the sweatshirt he was wearing and I put on the bottoms to my Frogg Toggs rainsuit. I did have a pair of hunting boots and some socks so I was able to get dry for the ride home. Despite the wind and me falling out of the boat..... I had a great day at the lake!!! Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

It was good to get back out on the lake Mike, and thanks for letting me tag a long. Been a long time sense I've felt a tight line. And yes I got a good laugh considering the last time you and I went fishing I feel out of the boat. Kind of poetic justice. I seem to recall there was another photo too. Hmm, wonder where that one ended up? ;^) Thanks again! Good seeing you again Charles. Matt |

We need to figure out when Bigun.... My cell phone is finally starting to work half right after the dip. I went ahead and ordered a new phone to be on the safe side. Yea' Matt, I saw that picture and took the liberty of leaving it out....... A small side benefit of it being taken on my camera..... hehehehe.... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Sorry Mike, I thought we got you out of the water and got your phone turned off quicker than that. Hey Tom, what's going on? Good to see you too. |
