Saturday was worst day ever. Lost four fish. With several days of warm weather in the 80's my son and I got on a fresh run of 10-15 lbs. mature steelhead in the Oak Orchard Creek. Fish fresh in from the lake are just plain mean and nasty. First thing in the morning the boy hooks up twice 2 beautiful 15 pound silver fish that had me running down stream to help him net. The coolest part of the day was the look on his face and watchin him trying to get the hook out- his hands were shaking so bad he couldn't get a hold of the hook or the fish. Course I said you got parkinson's disease settin in or somethin spaz boy. I just get excited he says. So I told him if your hands ever stop shakin after catchin a fish like that you should just give up stay home and sleep in - he just looked me in the eye nodded and smiled. Now for me it was Sinkey part 2 yankee version. Two fish broke off soon as they hit, the next one jumped outta the water like a frickin rocket shook his head spit the hook and the hook ended up in my ear. Then I just plain got owned by a bullet that was on for about 15 minutes got down in the rocks and broke me off, then jumped up as if to say up yours old man. Bad part is its such a short time frame and you gotta hit it just right. Figure we probably only got one week of steelhead action left. |
