Picou-Aggie96-Ozzie,
Mark and I are in. Maybe we can find a place up there to split room cost for the weekend. I have never fished it either. Anyboby know of cabin's or room's that sleep several people? I will get to checking and see what I can find. Mike I'm glad to see you back also. My grandson is gonna start his tournament career in the J.C. outdoor ind. trail this fall. I'm pretty excited! He's an amazing young man at age 12. Most laid back kid i've ever seen. I think I will learn alot of patience from him. Mike hope the Lord has healed your family.

I had a blast up there in 07, PQ and Charles were there too. We rented a trailer at Light House. It had 2 B/R's , a grill, Cable TV, Kitchen etc.. Good A/C too.
They have some 3-4 B/R trailers too..

It's not bad, if you stay in a Trailer, the Cabins are a rat hole.. Nasty Nasty Nasty.
It was Fun I really like Texoma, great lake.
We did pretty good considering our trolling motor went out on the morning of the last day-still caught fish.

The Texoma event isn't costly if you consider the Rayburn event.. That one cost some Jack $$$ buddy. Long Drive and lots of fuel when prices were sky high. That lake is AWESOME too. If I could have helped Kay on the first day we would have really placed high in the final.. Still got a ck..

She caught some big fish that first day, I caught 35 13-1/2 inch fish and she was catching 6-lbers..
That event was cold in the mornings and hot in the afternoons.. We had a great time.. We stayed in a Very Nice Cabin down on the south end called Powell Park. Real nice place...25-min drive to Jackson Hill for take off.
Zeet and RMax were at that one..

Ozzie and I are talking about doing Texoma. Sounds like a good time for sure.

I took the boys up there on a striper trip once. That is the extent of my Texoma experience.

So when we going up to check it out Oz?

I remember back in the early days of FTN we had a Texoma gathering. We had 5 or 6 boats out there from the site fishing and having a good time. Maybe we should do it again but this time we will be searching for bass instead of striper. Or.... Everyone go do your bass hunting first half of the day then we all meet up and try to get on some line sides and have a fish fry.

Corey and I might make a run out there this weekend to start checking out new water. I only know a few spots for bass on Texoma. I have some additional places I want to check out as well.

My one tidbit of advice would be crankbaits on the rocks.

Corey and I would be willing to stay in a group lodging if ya'll are willing to put up with having a teenage girl hangin around.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Are none of you guys deer hunters....?

No I'm just kidding, I would love to fish it. Just whomever scheduled it on the opening day of bow season is a dumb-arse. Great lake and very fun to fish. My grandparents live right on the lake on the oklahoma side. Wish it was just a different weekend.......

BTW Billy.... rayburn was brutal wasn't it. Good fishing but I think our starting spot was a 17 miles via GPS. Lots of fuel and big waves is all I remember.

But nice cabins

It was brutal Zeet... I liked to froze that first morning at take off, it was like 34 degrees..

I wasn't ready for that..

Steve, High Port sux's for keeping your boat in plain site... I like having my rig right next to where I'm staying..

Seriously you should drive up there and fish, then get off the water and check some places out in person..

That's what we did. At the light house it was kind of secluded.. Nice spot to start out scouting too..

The main peninsula where Lowe’s H/P and Light House are located should have something to your liking.

TEXOMA IS NOTORIOUS FOR—ROUGE MONSTER WAVES
That will take you out in a heartbeat.

You'll be cursing along nice and peaceful at 50-60 mph and all the sudden outta nowhere a huge 4 footer will appear and you'll think your gonna DIE.... Scared the holly begezzzzus out of me..
It happened more than once, I was on the look out after that first one and still hit some going to fast.. All you'll see is SKY-WATER-SKY-WATER-SKY-WATER. WOOOO WEEEEE !

I have learned to look for those rouge waves ever since the time I had the family in the boat on plane and all of the sudden the water came out from under us.... Scared the crap out of me too... Kept me off the lake for 2 years.

I do not think High Port has any accomodations other than for slip owners but I could be wrong. Light House has a bunch of cabins just not sure how big they are.

Zeet... I hear ya' on the opener of bow season but I look back over the years of opening weekend, how hot it usually is, and how poor the deer hunting usually is so missing that weekend does not bother me. I use to live for opening weekend of bow season but now it is less important to me. There is still plenty of time to be in the woods deer hunting.

Looks like the moon cycle will be decent for the opening weekend for a change....

Moonset 2:56p.m. on preceding day
Moonrise 1:43a.m.
Moon transit 8:45a.m.
Moonset 3:42p.m.
Moonrise 2:49a.m. on following day

Phase of the Moon on 2 October: waning crescent with 33% of the Moon's visible disk illuminated.

Last quarter Moon on 30 September 2010 at 10:53 p.m. Central Daylight Time.

Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Bring plenty of tackle, the zebra muscles are bad and you need to re-tie a lot.

Heck I may fish it like Edwin Evers on Lake Erie looking for rock piles on 35ft for huge smallies on a drop shot!! Now that would be awesome! it may suck for the guy in the back of the boat.

Good to see you back on the forum PQ. Life gets real hard to understand sometimes, we have been praying for your family and your brothers family.
Lowes has an RV park and I can bring my travel trailer, it will sleep 4 to 6 comfortably as long as Steve does not drink too much before going to bed.LOL Anyone else have an RV or motor home they can bring.
Zeeter its one weekend and its too hot to shoot bambi in early bow season anyway. Surprise the deer and show up on the second weekend.

RedSkeeter, the water is not clearing like it did in the spring. Probably 2 foot visibility right now. The muscles are still there but the bigger ones are dead and not filtering water.

Bunch of bait (small gizard shad) all along the shore line early in the morning.

Dru,
I guess the water warms too much and the big one can't handle it? maybe that a way to control the growth rates?
