Decided to make a quick run out to check things out. Got on the water about 4:30 and the first spot yielded a keeper in no time so moved around some and then noticed the clouds coming in. Decided to make a run back to highport to be near the truck if the skies opened up and in my haste to get out of there I apparently neglected to strap down the rods on the port side of the deck. I didn't realize it until I saw the rods flying off the deck and into the river channel. Both of my Demon rods flew overboard along with a nearly new Citica and my Chronarch 50Mg..... Ouch......... Needless to say I was dissapointed. Hung out at Highport for a while and watched the boat show as people poured back in with the threat of the storms looming. Went back out after an hour or so deciding that the storms were not going to hit there and went to another cove to see if I could find some fish. I was pleased to find a few more keepers and confirmed that the methods were still effective. All but one of my fish came on soft plastics and a variety of techniques. I caught fish on the Bass Bone, a Shakey Head, a Split-Shot rig, and a crankbait. All of the fish were in 12' to 6' of water. I was pleased with the results of the short time fishing and dissapointed in the loss of the rods. I look forward to getting out there again and visiting the same locations as well as other spots to make sure I have enough to go on for 2 days. One thing is for sure, Texoma is not lacking in baitfish. The shad blacked out my graph on more than one occassion. They ranged in size from 2 inches to 6 inches that I saw. All but one of the fish I caught were fat and healthy while the one was just long and slender but still looked healthy. The bellies on most of the fish were very full of bait. Hope this report helps some of you who have never been to Texoma. I expect the fishing to only get better as the temps begin to cool off. Water temps ranged from 88 degrees to 91 degrees where I caught fish. I plan on hitting the lake at least 3 more times before the championship. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I thought about calling insurance because that was nearly $1000 in gear overboard in 90 foot of water. Not sure how I could prove it though since I did not have each peice listed individually. Maybe it is worth a call tho... Forgot to answer the wind question... The wind was not very bad until the outflow winds from the storm. When that wind starts to blow and that smell comes across the water you know it is getting close..... Yea' Grant, sucked to lose those. Not caused by the blue cans, just too much of a rush to get to the ramp with the skies looking dangerous. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
