Saturday of this weekend was mine and Diane's 34th wedding anniversary. What a woman to put up with my crap for all of those years, the smells I sometimes emit should have ended it all years ago. HaHa
She gave me the green light to go fishing the Media Open on Saturday, she is awesome.
Here is where the near divorce comes in, it was between me and Spidey. We made a big mistake early in the day pulling off the first 2 lb fish we had caught in months, in the first 30 minutes I had two fish in the box that weighed 5 lbs total, the biggest a 2.64, I broke a fish off on the hookset that no doubt could have been a keeper. We pulled off the fish to keep another boat from getting second shot at the creek channel, that boat pulled in and caught a solid 2 pounder. We catch dinks and slots in the creek and return to the original spot. I brake off another fish on the hookset, Spydee catches a slot, the slots we were catching were the 16 1/2 inchers. This spot was no doubt the holy grail of fork bass and the fish we had looked so hard for for three months was right under our nose and we did not stay and grind it out. We left at 9:00 AM and Steve did pick up a 2 pounder off one of our favorite spots. Now we have 3 fish for 7 lbs and all we need is two 1 1/2 pounders for the win.
Moral of the story, never leave biting fish to guard fish that may or may not be biting. We should have held our position but hindsite is always 20-20.
Here is where the divorce nearly happens. I have decided Spydee has a dock fetish and I have a dock phobia, I do not know which one of us needs therapy more!!! LOL
We travel 14 miles to fish some docks, which I seriously do not like to do with two hours of fishing time left. Out of the first 5 docks one is brushed in and holding fish, we catch 2 slots no keepers. We head to the next 3 docks and its dead water, no feesh. In my frustration I call a moritorium on dock fishing when I am in the boat, I do not mind fishing a specific dock or even multiple specific docks but I do not like to fish rows of docks. Take me to Cedar Creek or Cypress Springs and I will dock fish all you want. In my opinion Lake Fork docks in general do not consistantly yield the fish that win these tournaments.
Spydee may never let me in the boat again after Saturday. And that is how I nearly ended in a divorce on mine and Diane's 34th wedding anniversary.

Decisions, decisions.

If I think we made a bad choice, I try not to discuss it too much after the tournament. Nothing good ever comes out of that. …….. One thing I have learned is to never look back, learn a little and just get ready for the next one.

Here is the real problem. Howitzer is so tall that even with the lake low he is looking at the roof of the boat house's. If he would just fish on his knee's we would be the same height. Had alot of fun Sat-Sun. I have us scheduled for counseling with the Gieco drill sargeant. Hope he don't tell us to go to Mamsy-Pamsy land. One thing for sure we are Jackwagon's. We'll get um next time Mark.

I have learned on Fork that you do not move if you are catching a few good ones. Espicially where you guys fished. That spot either has them or it doesn't

How many entries did Media draw? I never did see any results. Did they post them somewhere?
