After much thought and prayer I think this is the direction I need to go with our trail. There is a multitude of $160 entry events in the North Texas tournament market at this time.
In this current economy it is a tough decision to go to a $200 entry allthough many of my anglers have been paying them for 2 years. This I think will give them more value for their time and money spent. Instead of 5 or 6 events and trips to the lake anglers have the option to fish the first four and compete for AOY which receives free entry in 2012 same series plus qualifies for the championship at half price. The $5000 first place @ 70 teams will attract the teams we need to give our anglers a chance at some awesome payouts.
The first 4 events will be points qualifiers for the AOY with the 5th event being ran as an open and last chance qualifier to reach the must fish 4 events to qualify for the championship.
If you will notice I am useing a sliding scale on the payback with events with fewer entries paying back 1 in 4, midrange entry numbers paying back 1 in 5 and the bigger numbers of entries paying back 1 in 6 to maintain the value of the bottom level payouts as well. At 100 teams first place will be $7000 and pays back 16 places.
I also believe the Monday thru Friday off limits will attract anglers who would otherwise not fish with us. I do have an exception noted in this area in that almost all of our lakes now have working mans events. What I am allowing is that an angler may fish one working mans event or pre fish on a Monday-Thursday on the tournament waters as long as they are only on the water between the hours of 5:30PM to 10:30PM. No fishing on Fridays. On our Sunday events anglers can fish on Saturday prior to our event due to the fact many will be fishing Saturday tournaments on the same waters we will be conducting our events on.

Friends and Anglers

We have made some innovative changes to our trail this season hoping to find our niche in this saturated mid-range tournament trail market. It is no secret that the economy still continues to waiver and with the talk of upcoming fuel prices there is little doubt that the time and money that each of you as tournament anglers put into our favorite past time needs to offer the greatest rewards.

After months of juggling payout numbers and countless hours talking and polling anglers we feel we have something to offer our anglers that is worthy of their dedication and support. Our goal in these changes is to create a trail that you the angler can support proudly knowing that we are doing our very best in running a fair, safe, honest trail with integrity from the first event to the championship.

Diane and I have worked hard for the last 4 years tirelessly and without complaining, even though often the turnouts were minimal and the event cost us money to operate. It is time for us to make a change for the better of the trail and those who make it possible our anglers. Every weekend anglers have a dozen or more choices of events to fish in North Texas with the majority of them having minimal turnouts and disappointing pay outs due to the saturation of mid range trails. The payout matrix I have developed will allow the trail to maintain the integrity and value of the payout from the bottom numbers to the top. A win should be rewarded well but a top 3 finish should be as also. On the bottom number we never want to pay less than the entry invested, in most cases it should at least cover gas money on top of the entry.

Our off limits will still allow anglers to compete in no more than one working mans event on tournament week as these have become quite popular and most lakes have them or to pre fish an afternoon before the event. No pre registration required to fish in these excluded hours. These exclusion hours will be from 5:30 PM to 10:00 PM Monday-Friday one time only per team on tournament week you choose the day. (Team Anglers Must Fish On The Same Day, They Cannot Each Choose A Separate Day although they do not have to fish together on the day chosen) On our two Sunday divisions the Saturday before the event will not be off limits as often there is a tournament on that same lake on Saturdays.

All events with the exception of Lake Texoma will be operated with a numbered order start according to when registered at first safe light from host marina until 3:30 PM first flight check in. 20 boats per flight staggered 15 minutes apart.

30 day guide rule in effect all Spring Teams Events.

Anglers of the Year will be calculated from the points and pounds accumulated in the first four events in each series. AOY will receive free entry in all events same series in 2012 as well as free entry into the $10,000 first place guaranteed spring teams championship to be hosted this year on Lake Texoma. The remaining top 6 in points and pounds will receive half price entry into the 2011 championship.

Please register on our web site so that we may contact you with updates on each event. Marina and start time information will be posted soon. The 2011 Official Tournament Rules will be formatted and up soon as well and with that being said you could see minor changes to our schedule as we wrap up the final details. Please feel free to contact me at anytime with questions or comments. This is your trail the Lord just allows us to host it, we have made many friends throughout the last 4 seasons and hope we can count you as one.
