What are your opinions of the pro's? Truly great fishermen, lucky, spoiled, etc...

We are having an on going discussion about them and the lack of respect they seem to garner from the general public.

Tune in and voice you thoughts.

Some of them personify the word professional while others are merely anglers with enough money to compete at that level.

Are they good anglers? Several of them are extremely proficient at the sport and amaze me with their talent. Then there are others who I am not impressed with at all.

As far as the respect issue... Common courtesy should rule no matter who the angler is period. And I believe this to be a two way street. I have witnessed some of the "Pro" anglers treat other anglers on the water with utter disrespect. Some have the arrogance that they are entitiled to the whole lake. Respect is onoe of the hardest things to earn and the easiest to loose. Unfortunately when a "Pro" disrespects another angler on the water these days, word travels fast. Opinions are quickly formed and they propigate to all "Pro" anglers.

In my opinion, professionals should hold themselves to a higher standard and always take the "high road". They should set an example and be leaders in their discipline. Unfortunately... What I see in general, across multiple sports, "Pros" seem to believe they are entitled to get away with more than the common person.

If I am not fishing in a tournament myself I believe any tournament angler should be given way to, simply because they are fishing for money and I'm not -- see "The Golden Rule".

If we are fishing the same water and I am in a tournament as well.... Sorry! There is no justification for me to give up potential tournament winnings. But this does not give me the right to be rude or cut them off. If they were there first... my loss!
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Ya know in fishing the word Pro is kind of different...these guys pay big bucks to be called pro's...Other sport don't do this it a weird thing. There are tons of guys out there that should be on the trail that are not...It too freakin much money...their lives are changed try to od the sport and there are bunches of guy without a post to pee in...It a silly thing to try to do unless you have serious backing. I think there is a little of all Dru....

Oz, I agree with you to the extent that there are guys that can catch fish as well as the pros, but I think being a professional fisherman includes all the other things. You are gone 250 days a year, you fish in all types of weather on lakes all across the country, etc... It is the entire package that seperates these guys from the local sticks.

Mike, I agree with the good and bad apples on tour. I also believe some of their attitudes are justified. I've been pushed out of spots, cut off, etc... by other anglers and I'm only on the water a few days a month. Imagine how many times this must happen to the pros and they are fishing for a living. It would be nice if they all took the "high road" but I do understand when they don't. I don't think it is right, but I do understand.
