We have been using just the beam for culling. I am looking for a better system for this year. Seems that with all the fish sometimes being the same size, it can get pretty hairy with just the beam and cull rings. I am betting that some of you use a scale along with the beam. I have been using the Berkley scale for a couple of years now. We put 5 in the box then take a few minutes to record each fish's weight. The 2 smallest go into one livewell and the other three in the other. We use the Berkley clips and just pull the color we need to get rid of. If the fish weigh the same then I go to the beam. I saw the "Cull 'em Right" scales in action when I fished with Matt Reed and they worked quite well. But on my budget I will stick with the wax pen and cull board. I went with the cullmrite after an unbelievable day 3 years ago when Barb and I were in a couples tourney and caught 48 fish in a row that were between 1.98 and 2.04 !!! It was a culling nightmare...but a good nightmare to have!!! After all that we won by mere 100ths of an ounce!!! | |||||||||
