Speedy is good and will steer you in the right direction.

Words of advice -

Use on lead weights, you dont need tungsten down there and you will breakoff a bunch.

Have at least 1 rod with 60lb or more braid for flipping

fish SLOW, they will almost steal your rod when taking the baits

Take plenty of 6" Senko/Yum Dingers, Brush Hogs and LFT Ring Fry's (watermelon red & watermelon candy, watermelon magic)

Have some weights in 5/16, 3/8 & 1/2 oz. Also have your normal light stuff for around here.

How'd you rig the senko? (if you dont mind me asking)
If its Carolina - last I heard these are not allowed on my brothers boat.

Thanks- I was wondering about a lot of this stuff.

Ozzie loves to throw the C-rig :-) Good luck to you guys down there. Ozzie you should stop in Austin so we can fish here. BTW, don't forget depending on the time you roll through Austin to take the toll road around so you don't get stuck in traffic again.

Fork master - 1st place with the 8.2
Perch jerker - 2nd place with the 7.9

I'll call it second place..

But, on day one I had big fish of the day on a Yankee jig, using a fairy wand, and casting to keep clear of the Fork master and Speedy (the guide) Collett
Then things got very ugly.
Hows a spinning reel guy like me supposed to keep up with a guy that can flip a sweet beaver into a mouse hole without leaving a ripple.. Jeez..

Its like standing in nasty pricker bushes, trying to make casts to exact spots that go no higher than 6 inches.. and its got to fall "natural" -- cmon....Like theres a lot of natural to a plastic beaver to begin with.

"Ya better bring Iodine - cause you're gonna bleed".

Its was crazy combat fishing for a while - I have gained a lot of appreciation for guys that can make that presentation work.

Rick had me practicing by pitching into cinder block holes. I got better at it-- but nah... not that good.

Thankfully we found the motherlode in good old regular lake and I could keep up better. Let the record show I put us on that spot.

I got to see some strange stuff - Catfish ladies wearing gigantic fake boobies, a slick country band that had the word "cowboy" in every song at least 5 times. I saw Border Wars up close and personal. I saw large mouth bass with teeth.(seriously--they have teeth. Our bass dont have teeth like that) And yeah-- My thumb still cannot make a thumb print- its been completely wore off.

Great time though -- Thanks again Rick for showing me a bit of that world. I'll never forget it.

I am trying to think how many bass we put over the rail - But every time I start to tally spots the number goes too high and I think "nah that can't be right" - I'm going to say we each had more than a hundred easy and Rick might be pushing 120 or 130? more?. We'd cast to schooling bass and get 10 fish each in like 15 minutes.. and we did that multiple times... like every morning actually. It was nuts. I'm supposed to go salmon fishing Sunday -- but its going to seem so tame after that Falcon lake crazy stuff
I'm going to have to wait to get a bite -- like for hours probably.

If you don't hit Falcon in the next 12 months you are not a BASS fisherman. It is simply the best lake on the planet right now and any cast could be a 10+. After a day or two you just start anticipating it.

What was the best bait Oz?

1) power worm about any color(Tx rig for deeper points and rocks)
2) beavers (pitching)
3) spinnerbaits (schools)

This was on a power worm at a spot we called the "slaunching pad"
