Connie aggreed to spend Good Friday with me fishing so we headed to Texoma for some fun fishing. The bite was pretty good and I started off the morning with a big smallie on a crank bait.

All said and done I think we had 14 fish for the 5 or 6 hours we fished. Would have had about 17 pounds if we were in a tournament so I was not dissapointed what so ever. Caught most everything on either a square bill or a JDC Baits bass bone in watermelon/red flake. Connie did catch one on a split-shot watermelon fluke.

It is always nice to catch a couple of small mouths when on Texoma and for me that seems to be happening more often. Now I just need to find those 6 pounders... :-)

Saw some buck bass starting to get on the beds but none were locked on yet. Water temps were in the lower to mid 60s where we were and the clarity is getting significantly deeper.

It had been years since Connie and I went fishing together for bass and I really enjoyed spending the day on the lake with her. I know it will not happen again any time soon so I will just enjoy it while I can... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I was out there that day fishing in Highport. Didn't see you so I'm guessing you put in somewhere else. The wind was brutal so I stayed in the marina all day. I caught about 20 but not near the size of yours. I did talk to one of the good local pros and he was telling me that the spawn was just about over. He was looking for bedfish for the JCO event but said they were all gone. I guess it just depends on what part of the lake you're on.

Hate that you guys were that close and we missed each other but glad you 2 got some quality time together.

Sounds like fun Mike. I'm headed down Friday with Creed for a little company tournament. He is excited to fish his first event. Hopefully, we can get a few of those Texoma smallies in the boat.

Mark, we launched in Highport then headed east. I almost called you but figured you were sleeping.

Dru, the LC Fat CB in citrus shad was the ticket for me. Connie never got bit on the KVD square bill. I caught several on the bass bone also in areas I would not throw the crank.
