I am tired of searching for the right square bill crank.... I have tried several different brands over the last month and cannot find a suitable replacement for the Lucky Craft square bill.

What square bill do you like the most and why?

I've been throwing the Strike King KVD series 1 and the 1.5, and love them.

What are you looking for in one?

One that even I can catch a fish on... :-) Maybe I just need to learn how to fish these alternates better. I cannot hardly get bit on anything other than a LC on Texoma lately.

Fortunately this weekend I will be fishing my strengths but I know I will need some cranks for Cedar Creek so I need to figure out what to get between now and then.

You talking about deep square-bills or what.... I don't think the brand has much to do with it. Just hit as much timber or docks as possible

Have you tried the KVD's

Bomber makes a good crank for CC...I've also had some excellent results with a Deep Little N. The LC 1.5 and 2.5 are really hard to beat but they will break the bank...early morning a trap is a good thing...

I admit that I have caught fish on several of the different SB cranks. But I have noticed some subtle differences that may or may not make a difference.

I have fished the KVD baits and yes, I have caught fish on them. I have also caught fish on the Xcalibur SB cranks -- that was the bait Matt Reed used when we fished Grand Lake. I fished the H2O bait on Grand and caught fish on it as well. But... There is a difference between them and I am beginning to realize some subtleties that for some applications I do not like.

Maybe the trick is to understand the differences between the baits and use the one that works the best for the application at hand. Definately, they are not all created equal.

Same here got just about every color, size, brand only throw 3 or 4. Shallow, middle, deep in shad, chart/black back, chart/blue back, and now yellow perch. By the way I think KVD cranks are cheap chinese crap that split at the big glued together seam.......just sayin.

I have 4 or 5 plano boxes full of cranks in the boat. I took 2 boxes of cranks out last year and never put them back in the boat. I really need to narrow it down some more because what I have now are too many singles.

I did go spend some money at BPS on multiples of the ones I have been throwing lately. Unfortunately they are all Lucky Craft so the final total was not pretty.... :-(
