Mental note.... Check tournament page before leaving in the morning and check current weather reports...

North/North West wind with 24 MPH gusts is downright dangerous on T-Wok -- I'm just sayin.... :-) Corey lost count how many times she went airborn on the ride in the dark to hideaway from 2 mile bridge.

Based on what I had seen for the forcast I decided to launch at 2 mile and make the run to hideaway for takeoff. Little did I know.... Chad has decided to allow trailering for the event -- ... We started to cross the lake to head to Cedar Cove and it was too much so we ducked into a cove North of Wolf and took a number.

Wind had the people stacked like cord wood. Main lake was down right scary. Broke the shear pin on the trolling motor just running across the lake to our first spot -- thank God I had a spare and enough tools to improvise and replace it.

The saving grace for our day was a somewhat windy drop off in that first cove that was stacked with 13.5" fish. They may not have been monsters but it was cold, windy, and we were happy to be catching fish. Caught about a dozen there and Corey managed one 14 1/8" fish in that bunch. Later I put a 14 1/2" fish in the livewell off a dock with a crankbait.

At 3:00 we decided to toss them back and come home. All in all we caught 16 bass, 1 catfish, and 1 sandbass.

Corey and I actually said a prayer together before getting back out on main lake. And once we got back to 2 mile... I said a prayer of thanksgiving...

What a freakin of a day!
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Your right, it was rough out there! I am glad you guys were OK I was a little worried about Corey in those conditions.

We caught about 10 bass, a catfish, a drum and a blue gill of some kind. Only five of the 10 we caught were keepers we just couldn't get any quality bites.

Basschamps does need to use their text system to send out a notice about trailering, we wouldn't have known if we didn't call in Friday night with a registration question.

Anyhow Good Times, it was good to see you two out there!

Glad y'all made it back safe.

T-wok can get real snotty real quick.

I remember several years ago spearing two waves. Only time I've speared a wave and not in any hurry to do it again.

Good to see you too Terry. Glad ya'll had a safe day as well. Sorry about not responding to your text, I forgot my phone in the boat on the drive home and then just kinda forgot about the phone all together. I did not see the text until late. Good job you two on weighing a limit.

I wish I would have had the forthought to follow you guys out and let that big 'ol Triton break the waves -- if that would have helped. How was the ride for ya'll?

Corey has been telling everyone, "6-Flags ain't got nothin on that Lake Tawakoni boat ride!" :-)

She is a trooper and has endured some pretty harsh stuff to compete. This one was completely my fault for putting us in that situation. I should have checked in advance and our day would have been completely different.

I looked at the map and it looks like Gum Cove was where we spent the morning. There is some really great looking water in there it's just too bad we shared it with 10 - 12 other boats.

I will chalk this one up to a learning experience. All in all, I am pleased with how well the 18.5' Skeeter handled it. I learned more about operating in big water and as long as I could power from crest to crest we stayed pretty dry. When we hit the mouth of Waco Bay it was a cake walk. From there back to the trailer was just another day on the water.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
