I will agree some of the threads are Borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring and stupid kid questions..

That is exactly what many of them are right now; it runs in cycles from my 6-yrs of observation.
The TFF is the largest.. Seriously the largest Bass fishing forum in the USA..

It carries a lot of clout on subjects 'we' anglers disagree with.. That clout is very influential with bait companies, reel manufactures, and rod builders to name just a few.. It's much larger than any of you guys could ever imagine..

Moderating is not an exact science, no one has written a 'how to' book I know of..
I consider it an honor to be chosen from the large number of possible candidates here, and at the TFF.

Don't take stuff to seriously especially yourself. It's supposed to be a fun place to visit, you can make it a better place with every visit, your contributions to the youth of bass fishing is in your hands many times a week.

The kids are eager to learn and as I said above they ask stupid stuff(seemly to us)but to them it's not. Many of them are from a single parent homes not getting the valuable teachings we got in our youth..

Sorry for the long winded post--- I, 100% agree there are some azzholes among members, their lifes goal logging on to the TFF is to stir up controversy or insult someone through a key board. The staff is working hard to weed those individuals out, and keep them out going forward.

To my knowledge:
Chris Stewart-Fishkiller
Mark Perry
Stan Browning
Matt, Buda 13
Bob Smith
Legend Rick
Myself *

We’re the primary Mods for many of the actual fishing sections..

Every one of the above names are avid fisherman and, fish tournaments, they’re as competitive as any comparable angler I know.

So to say they don't fish is not a factual statement.. No offense intended by any means, just wanted everyone to know what’s really going on with the site and who is running it..

You really can't post anything over there about catching fish otherwise it speads like wildfire and can cause a lake to suffer. Lake X is a perfect expample...There was barey anyone fishing that lake and a few guys start posting all the big limits and that little lake gets pounded now...IBC was there last weekend so there were two tournaments and the parking lot was a full house with bass boats...Fishing was way way off from years past...It's good and its bad I guess. I enjoy looking around but not like here at the PQ dine and dance FTN site...

With membership comes conflict -- period. The more members the higher the risk of issues. JP is about numbers because numbers is what pays his bills. He banned my website address from being entered on the TFF several years ago because I posted a picture of my FTN ball cap signed by the pros at Lewisville. What ever.... I understand his reasoning although I disagree.

Texasbowhunter.com is one forum that I frequented when it was new and only a membership of a couple hundred. It was TBH that spawned FTN. TBH grew and reached the point that it was no longer fun and just the same ol' BS repeated every year. The more members the more internet fights broke out and the harder it was to even browse the threads. I went to TBH for the first time in over a year the other day and things have not changed much -- other than Zeeter and Sinkey post over there now. :-)

I am glad that FTN has stayed relatively small. Our membership is around 140 but a small % of those members post. We joke around and harass each other and seldom are anyone's feelings hurt. I pay for this site out of my pocket. There are no sponsors supporting the site. The only person at the end of the day I have to answer to is me. If this site ever reaches half the hassle that TFF is, I will shut it down. I do not have the time or the desire to deal with it.

So, I just want to clarify that the motivations between TFF and FTN are totally different. TFF is how JP makes a living. Some of the decisions made over there are because of that and although I do not like them I completely understand. I do not make a dime off FTN. I just want to be able to come on here and laugh at the hilarious stuff posted. I want us to be able to have fun with each other and brag about our fishing accomplishments. Have questions answered about things and in general -- be entertained.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

It's a tool, you can use it or abuse it..

JP, is the owner-Yes. The Mods pretty much run it under set, and some not so set guidelines.

We, you and I are what makes these sites work or not work.

Basically at times, it's a great concept that can quickly run a rye much like what OZ said about lake X..

One of funniest things I've noticed about many anglers is their need to brag about how good they did at so&so spot or lake.
I'm not saying that’s bad, in fact its pretty common. The guys that can keep their mouths shut(rare occurrence) enjoy much longer periods of success.

I enjoy this site because of the fellowship and genuine good will to each other. That's hard to do with 60K + members on the other site.

PQ did good, in fact both sites are good for different reasons..

I don't want to get all philosophical, but use both sites to your advantage and be thankful we have both.. If you can see the full picture you'll know what I mean...jm2c's

Totally agree Picou, well said!

What I think is that the mods other than a couple already mentioned think of it like being sponsored by a freaking big time sponsor in the fishing world.

Just go check out Lonestar bass one guy pretty much runs it. Everyone there is at least a stick and doesn't ask stupid question after stupid question. I have no problem with a kid asking a question. But that is the most biased web-site / forum / arse kissing around.

Everyone one of you know what I'm talking about!

I like this site as well the TFF well I have a mouth full to say but will keep it simple there are a ton of internet fishermen over there they have nothing better to do. The mods over there have gotten pretty soft b/c they are told to tighten up the board and I understand to a point.

There are times when a mod will over step his bounds as well and delete there whole post and when you question where it went you get a nice PM saying in our terms don't worry about it but if you over step you get a time out in the wos. There are also a few mods will not name that talk plenty of trash about alot of things and when it comes game time they have to work or family comes in or something came up every time get's old fast.

I do respect some of the Mods like Redskeeter,Bod,Stan and a couple more they do have there hands full but there is alot of talk that goes on with a key board that people really don't mean people just take it wrong I am one of those guys I type what I think and people take it the wrong way and all hell breaks loose LOL!! But other than that I like both boards and I like that they are not the same.
