OK guys I just wanted to let you know that I am listening. I will be checking with John to see if we can have his venue for the 2012 Spring Teams.

The only reason I am not leaving The Minnow Bucket this fall is they are on the ropes, I as many of you have been there in my life and I just cannot kick a man when he is down. I hope you will continue to support JCO in that venue this fall as all events are trailering after livewell check.

$130 to $150 team entry includes BB. Lets hear your choice.

Off Limits Monday thru Friday

30 day guide rule applies to each event.

$20, $25, $30, membership per angler applies to this series only 70% of membership money will go into either the AOY bonus pays as I am doing for the fall trails in 2011 or a Championship in the Fall on Lake Fork. Lets hear your opinion.

PQ I will pay $50 of your entry if you will manage my fish care to cover one of the girls fishing with you. We can also look into support for other Jr. Angler teams as well. That should be out there. I am in the process of getting a 500 gallon live release tank and trailer as soon as I find the right sponsor to support the purchase.

Plaques? What are your thoughts guys. I think they are great but others act like they do not care for them.
I will do plaques but only if a sponsor wants to buy them all at once for the entire series including AOY and Championship plaques if you guys choose a championship.

What am I missing to make this trail fun and get guys to support it?

Corey and I will find a way to be there Mark. I have some ideas for post weigh in fish care that we will talk about in the near term.

I am torn on membership fee... I know that the membership fees have kept me from fishing several tournaments over the years because I knew I was only going to be able to fish 1 maybe 2 events. Single lake tournament trails don't have the typical "Jack Potter". You want to encourage participation from those who have some free time or just happen to be on the lake that weekend. A $140 entry with $10 of each entry going into the AOY pot and no membership fee would be my preference.

I prefer the AOY bonus money over the championship and then if you want you can have an invitation only tournament at the end of the year with 100% payout.

Plaques are nice but there are several who just put them in the drawer or a closet. I think I would rather see that sponsorship money put towards fish care, door prizes, or Jr teams.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Good thoughts, thanks for sharing. I am liking some of the ideas I am hearing. We ran the Lake Fork Nights this season all as opens. We ran 21, 25, 22, 22, 25 teams. About 15 regulars and the rest hit and miss but stayed consistant all the way through the series. If everyone would have showed up would have been 40 plus.

JCO needs to stand out from the other trails.

The fewer questions folks find themselves having to ask, the better.

Straight 90% payout at the ramp and stick to it for 3 years, chunk the championships. When you get over 35-40 boats consistently, your payouts will turn heads. When you hit over 50 boats consistently, then you will have something special.

The side pot deal can always be an option, because it only affects the folks who like it. More cash shown paid out in the posted results is always good. Anglers getting in a side pot like to gamble. Make the entry $130 with an option of $50 for the side pot. You need to post results somewhere every evening after the tourney. Even the TFF is better than not posting them at all or late.

Have no membership fees to draw entries. Going forward, you need to be looking at catching the folks who are already fishing trails that have a boat or truck to give away at the championship. You may not get them every tournament date, but you need them to fish 1, 2 or 3 events. You can hook them by just getting them out to JCO. That is a niche you can fill. JCO is there if they want to come out and compete. Have no membership fee and stick to it. Don’t focus on an AOY or Championship payout.

1-5 payout is what the vast majority likes, no question about that. Most anglers want a shot at any check. They want their best chance at saying, “I got a check”.

Not keeping monies every tournament for a “smaller type championship or AOY” allows folks to compete when they want to without thinking of “donating to a championship fund” that they may not be interested in. I think this is a good ploy with all the tournament saturation. There have only been 4-5 teams that have fished every fall event in the past. Not having one in January should help that this year. Focus on drawing entries and keep your energies there in the future.

Letting guides fish is always going to be counterproductive as far as entries are concerned. I would go 60 days at least, or 90 days. Guides are either a guide or not a guide.

You might try the Mon-Friday off limits. Bass Champs seems to do real well with the off limits. It might hurt at a lake such as Fork at the start, but is more than likely healthy for a trail in the long run.

Don’t chase unproductive trails. It spreads you too thin to be successful on any lake.

Don’t run any more polls on the TFF.

Ozzie and I are going to fish most of the events this fall, no matter what you decide. The AOY deal does not spark any interest for me. We just want to come out and compete. You and Diane have always done a superb job and we appreciate you all.

Don’t over think it. Keep it simple

Or keep the standard entry at $160 so the 90% payout will stand out as compared to the other trails.

Also forgot to ask..... How many entries do you expect this Saturday?
I don't think this is a good weekend to start a trail. The high is going to be 104. Good luck.

Plus, the trail has not been promoted.

Agreed, Agreed, Agreed. Thus the best 5 of 6 ruling on points. Believe it or not there are those who want to fish because the fishing continues to be amazing in spite of the heat.

Started to just run this one as an open, but hey those who fish 6 get to drop one. Could make a difference for someone at the end of the year standings.

It has been promoted just not with fliers on every windshield promotions. Everyone can expect a PM. Also there is a benefit on RH Sunday out of Bass Pro. Ends at noon or one. I will be handling the weigh in procedures only. Tommy and Stan have the rest of it covered. I am thinking some great door prizes for those that want to knock around on RH for a few hours on Sunday.

I reckon that I was a little harsh. Sorry about that Mark Howard.
I hear ya Pick. It just ain't happening though.

Looking forward to late September-October-November. I am working out in it every day this week. If I do anything water related Saturday, it might be a quick early trip to Twok for some eating fish.

We just entered the new millennium and bought a real TV. Tommy is coming out to hang the thing on the fireplace this weekend. I never thought I would hear myself say this but, “I am watching TV this weekend”.

Yea Tom I'm out there daily as well...What a beat down! Sposed' to be a weak front move through tommorow with night temps dropping and much drier air for the weekend.

I like plaques Mark...My shop wall is not completely covered yet...but close...How much is it to cover all the plaques at once for a trail?

Mark I will do some checking. Those little plaques with the fish started at $8 a pop for two years then last year he jumped them to $15 then $16 and I just received an email that he is going up to $20 each on the little guys.
He is a Garland detective, I think I will call the Garland PD and tell them I am being robbed!!!

I am shopping for another supplier and will update soon.

Tom no harm no fowl Brother. I want feedback whatever the cost. I am getting some good ideas, some that I will try to use.
Thanks

With the trail still on the small side. I would skip the plaques and concentrate on the payout and make sure that you make a guaranteed profit. Spend the plaque money on flyers and promotion that will increase entries.

I am game for hitting the lake with flyers during the Mickey D’s. I would deliver them there two out of the 3 days. I will take one of the days myself, just let me know when your flyers are ready. It is the 23rd, 24th and 25th. During Fishing for Hearts and Mad Dog would be two more dates to do some flyers. That is the 3rd and 10th. I think I can do flyers the 3rd also as I am planning to be at the lake that morning working with Ozzie on a few things. You ought to have 40 boats by the October dates.
