Saturday we had a limit early and had the rest of the day to go to work....About mid mornin' one of our go to spots exploded with a huge school of bass....just as we were gettin' in position to slaughter them, two old men jumped right in and tied off and went to ball and chainin'em to death..jeeze...We picked um apart from afar and culled up for a final weight of 8.66 for 6th place. If we could have worked it out properly the story would have been a lot differant at weigh in. Oh well, still had a lot of fun.......

James and I fished the JCO tourney and only weighed 5.32 but man did we catch a ton of fish. We had a limit of dinks in the first 30 minutes. I knew it was gonna be a good day when one of our biggest keepers came unbuttoned at the boat. James had the net in hand and looked at me like WTF. As my bait was just sittin on the water the fish turned and hit it again and was quickly netted as I was wonderin what had just happened. We didn't catch many keeper fish and even had to cull down due to a gill hooked fish started to look pretty weak. But boy were the big slot fish eatin. I caught two fish over 7 lbs. (on my Berkley digitals that have been fairly accurate in the past) on back to back casts and James caught a 6 and 7 on back to back casts. James also caught one 7 pounder that I predict will be a Share-a-lunker if it ever gets to be 24". This fish was truely one of the famous "Fork Footballs". It was a little over 20" long and dang near that tall. Kinda looked liked the photoshopped fish posted by the Yank in an earlier post. Our best 5 would have been over 35 lbs with our biggest being an acrobatic toad that was a little over 8 lbs. Hell we even both caught a catfish over 5 lbs. I don't know about you guys, but we were catching fish in 1-5 feet of water. The area we did our best in was just full of small shad. We had a great time eventhough we sucked in the JCO. The fishing God's may have been taking care of me since it was the last time I will get to fish the great Lake Fork for a long while. I found out about a week ago that the people who matter at Sunoco have requested my presence in Philly to run a project that is scheduled to last 3-5 years. Hopefully I will see you guys on the water during one of trips back home.

Great day Chuck. Congrats on a super trip.

I stayed home and cooked burgers, chicken and pork roast on the smoker/grill. Yum. All the sons, wifey's and grandkids showed up.

Mark and Diane came through after the JCO tourney and joined us. Mark sowed some of his deer minerals and other feed back in the corner of our property and installed a camera. I just wandered back there a while ago and they have been tearing that stuff up.
Thanking the Lord, all day long
