Was approached last spring about getting onto a hunting lease. Upon looking it seemed like a decent piece of property. When the lease money was due the guy who showed me the lease said his funds were short and if I would pay the entire amount he would pay me for his amount real soon. That was last May and no payment yet. I talked to the land owner and he said he had a sighed contract with his money in hand and he wasn't concerned about my problem. So.. What can I do? I'm thinking of parking my truck in front of his stand every morning until he pays or leaves. He definately intends on hunting cause he put out about 200# of corn today. has money for corn, cigarets and beer. Never been in a situation like this before. What say you? M&M Retires Afield

That sucks Bluecat.... I am not sure exactly, but I believe a verbal contract is binding in Texas under certain situations. I am not a lawyer but might be worth looking into. In the mean time, make sure you do not break any rules that would allow them to kick you off the lease because you will not see a dime if that happens. Take the high road and tell him you will take it back in payments over the next 3 months or so. Give him the chance to make good on the agreement but remind him that you want your money back -- regularly.... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I think PQ has a reasonable initial response. If that does not work walk up to him while he is on stand and tell him the get "heck" out - cause you paid, and he knows it. Till then make sure you drink all his beer, smoke up his cigs, also relocate his corn to your stand - |

Follow Picu's lead but add the following. Disconnect the battery off his feeders, no corn no deer. Put a lock on his blind I'm sure you guys all have a camp close to each other on the lease. I would make him as uncomfortable as possible without being a . If that does not work the way you wanted then I would tump overhis blind, feeder and pee and crap all around the location |
