Story is...... I knew of a deep hole where I had caught fish the last couple of years, well tried to get back there but couldn't with out the boat catching on the sand. I had my duck hunting waders in the truck so ran back to the ramp put em on went back and got out of the boat and pushed my way in. Got there and caught the crap out of em........ now the water came up so everyone can get back there with out a problem!

Gotta do what you gotta do my brothers!

Need to start readin' the BLT rules a little closer Zeet. "No leaving the boat to accses fishing water" All water fished must be accsessed by the main lake. Just watchin' your back bro.

This was the week before the BLT Pickle but thanks for having my back, the lake came up enough for us to get back there with the Thurs and Fri rain we had, but caught nothing but 18 slots out of the hole. We knew the rule and were going to go on plane if we couldn't make it, but didn't need too.

I read all the rules bub

Yeah..... it was pretty disappointing I thought it was one of those spots where it was all over but the crying. The week before the tourney when I got back there on Sat, I made 4 cast and had 3 unders and a 18 incher. Sunday didn't go back and then Saturday before the tourney just made sure we could get in there without having to get in the water. Didn't even make a cast but guess I should have....... oh well thats how bass fishing go!

Guys El Salto was awesome for numbers I mean off the hook good. 150 bass a day 2-4lbs with a 5 and 6 mixed in each day. No giants but lots of action...there were some guys that caught some good fish but the big fish were off for sure...The lake is the lowest its been at this time of year so I wonder what it will be like in a few months...I had three doubles on traps and DD-22's which is a first for me down there...The food was great and the serivce is 2nd to none...

Thumbs might be fine but I bet your arms and ribs are bruised!

We whacked them like that in July one year.

Those Pacifico's are tasty too!

Any signs of trouble down there from the Bandito's?

Mountains of Barbacoa, and Carne Asada
Rivers of Pacifico
When you ask somebody there to get you something they sprint away to do it muy rapido - It'll spoil you.
and so many fish - its hard to leave the spots pumping out 2,3 and 4 pounders so consistantly

Richard lost the big momma right at quitting time Sat eve.

It had just rained a bit, and the light was fading fast but this Forker was convinced La Gorda was coming soon.. Like he could smell it.

The guide had stowed up the electric motor and I put down my rod - But Richard was saying just one more cast.. "Uno mas please".. - we were buried in the trees and he was literally sticking the fishing pole between his knees and pulling the boat through the trees, like a man possesed, to get to spots where he could pitch at likely targets.
Of course, as everybody can guess - after half a dozen pitches -boom- he sticks one. It takes to the sky. Its 8 to 10 lbs if its an ounce- by far the biggest we saw of the hundreds of bass we caught by that point.
Like every bigger Bass this one decided to bury itself in a tree. Richard looks at the Guide and says excitedly "I want this fish!" Just about then Oscar starts pulling on trees himself to propel the boat the 15 yards or so to get around behind the bass and tree to try to dislodge her so she could come to hand.
Long story short - The bass broke the line shortly after we got on top of her

~ and "lost bass sadness" took over our little fishing boat.

I dont think Richard was too happy at that moment. Its one of those moments fishermen must suffer.. I wondered what comes next? --- Richard gets pissed at the guide for not re-deploying the motor a moment earlier? Or maybe he slams the pole down and curses the world for being so unfair, maybe he spits on the trees for being to rough, or perhaps he sulks because that was indeed a giant.

In the end there was, simply and only, one thing that my little brother would do.. I shoulda known it all along.

"Oscar, Pacifico por favor!"

;)

It is the ones that have gotten away that thrill me the most, the ones that stay fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish.

"People all talk about "spots of time", but it is really the fishermen who experience eternity compressed into a moment. No one can tell what a spot of time is until suddenly the whole world is a fish and then the fish is gone. I will remember that son of a bitch forever."

PQ- I think that Yankee post deserves its own break in the string.

The contemplative Yank - offers a sentimental passage to the readers of the Ramp.

Better do it fast though - I think a big ol' FU in his more typical poetic manner is coming pretty soon
hahahahah
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the serious side.
I never thought about it before - but I guess the big ones ya lose do stay vivid on the mind for a long while- probably a lifetime..
