So I finally got my boat out on Friday and decided to hit Coffee Mill Lake to escape the blustery north winds on Friday. I figured the water temps would be warmer since it was a smaller lake with muddy water.

I have duck hunted this lake hundreds of times but never fished it so I just put the trolling motor down and got started. I was disappointed that the water temps were 52 - 54 but I was very happy to find some very healthy hydrilla in the lake. I had already caught a couple in the 2 - 3 pound range when I caught this fish:

I snapped a picture with my phone and sent a picture to Ozzie with the statement of, "Thinking of you".

About 5 minutes later my phone beeps with a text message and attached is this picture:

I busted out laughing and responded, "Ummmm... Ok..... Nevermind..... lol...."

Talk about putting me in my place.... Nice fish buddy! :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I thought you were going to that fun lake of Roberts? What a wus!

The wind couldnt have been any worse than yesterday out there. 20 to 25 gusting over 35! That was an adventure for sure!

Nice fish guys. I used to fish crocket a lot before I decided to start fishing Bonham. Now I can drive past that lake to get to crocket.

I was told there are larger fish in CM so I figured I would give it a shot. I kinda was hoping to stumble onto some crappie also. Other than the dirty water, I really liked the cover the lake had to offer.

My buddy Ron likes fishing CM early spring but he says it gets choked up with grass later in the year. I caught some nice chunks in crocket back in the 90's.
