JP did.. He called Ken, their done for real.. So is the Cove.
They locked the doors an fired the staff.. Looking bad around our part of East Texas.. The lake has lost a lot of its lore.. Its been fishing like Schit for 2-3 years now..

Oh man not looking good around there, especially going into winter... Well from what I know the bucket was an owner finance deal so the owners will get it back.. Maybe the brothers will rightfully open it back up, the one that now works at star Mart told me all of that, he was upset that his parents ever got into that deal with the guy that was running it...
And the cove just reopened.. Guess it took too long to get their liquor license..
I think it's about lazy owners and rude employees that kill these places.. Look at the dock at the bucket, I mean come on it needed to be replaced 5 years ago

There should be a bunch of lots going real cheap very soon all around the lake..
The only original Marina that's open now is LFM..
OakRidge was a tiny lil place when it first opened.. Had chickens running around the place back then, crazy times ahead. It's not looking good, it'll never be the same.
Regardless of what people/guides claim the lake has been fishing like schit over the last couple of years. The average Joe that spends 1-K or more on a 3-day trip to fork is getting fewer and fewer so I'm told. That appears to be obvious with the closing of 4-major marinas in the last 18-24 mons.. AXtons,RainsWood,Bucket,Cove..
How is the Light House doing, it was going to be Shorty's or somethoing like that now it's called HillTop ???

Droughts have more lasting effects than just water levels...Only the strong survive on a retail level around fork. It is very seasonal, Many think they will have a captive customer base like in the city and soon find out that's not the case...

Big money trickles down hill and until we get a more appealing investment environment, You will continue to see this happen all over the country..

Most of my clients on the lake are BIG money from all over the world and they are investing in local property around the lake and not one of them care about fishing or the local economy...They seam to be more interested in building conservative retreats with water as a boundary. I have looked at some very interesting plat maps recently on big chunks of lake front property....

The drought, the record cold winters the two yrs prior to last year had a huge effect on the quality of fishing IMO. I have a completely irrigated yard sprinkler system, and still have trees dying from the hot dry summers we've had--It's crazy.
To say the fishing has been less than stellar is an understatement. The early spring was over the top, but since late April-early May its been--What happened. ???
But I'm not fishing as I did in yrs past, but you'd think I could still catch a few here and there without having to put 100-days a yr on the water to stay on top of them..

Many anglers that held Fork in such high regard are becoming less and less in love with it.. We talked to many anglers in the McDonalds tournament that were very unhappy. Everyone of them said they have never experienced the lake fish this horrible(of course that's relative) to how they're fishing the lake too.
I hope it's all just bad timming with the lake being off a bit and the businesses going south.
LFM is having a fantastic year as a whole, thats encouraging it's my favorite spot on the lake by far..
Maybe we'll see Lady Fork return to her great splender again one day -- maybe not. Either way I'm not going any where, I'm a life'er out there like my brotha Pickle..

Pardise Forest was purchased a few months ago so I hope the new owners don't go and start raising rates on us...The lake doesn't fish like a few years ago thats for sure. To see business hurting so bad its really a shame. All lakes go in cycles so we'll see what happens in the next few years. Less pressure may be a good thing for the fishing but as we are seeing business' fail.

I knew the bucket was going to fail with that D Bag new owner!!!!1 The boys were good and always had great customer service.

If people would run their business like Lake Fork Marina instead of a crack shack they would make it. There are enough people going to Fork to make a little cash. Heck every other post on The Joke forum is about Fork.

My opinion on business fail is you have a low life lazy fool running the place that cares more about a 2 dollar launch and ciggs then taking care of customers..... ie

The Cove ..... Dan
Minnow bucket.... that little sawed off joke
Axtons..... after the old man died
rainswood..... h*le Bill
Froggy D's ...... Tim Walker and the other old man

Popes will make it because Georgain is running it and has money. I think sold it to an investor, not sure. LFM will make it cause its family run and the nicest place on the lake and they care about their customers. Fishermans one stop will make it cause Bro has money and cares about his customer.

Dyson needs to buy the bucket. Fix the dock. Have ok looking girls working and you will make a profit........ and let me launch for free!!!!! hehehehe
