Anyone here use the Shimano Curado CU200BSF and what do you like/dislike about this particular reel or the Curado line of reels? I've decided I might as well give the bigger Curado a try. I need a little more line than the average perch jerker (I cast plastics in the surf a lot). |

I have not used the Curado but have heard much good about them. I fish with the shimano SF. A big red will give you all you can handle but works well. Love to fish and hunt.

Rob, I have the 200. It's not SF.. I can throw a 1/2oz or larger bait a country mile. The only thing I don't like, is it's two pieces and all of the plastic parts. For the price it's an excellent reel. |

Excellent feedback indeed and thanks a bunch. I guess using a spectra style line in the extra large strength offerings might be a "no no" with this reel. 2 part reels with plastic can SPLODE if you push the reel past it's line rating. Bays shouldn't be a big problem in skinny water casting 8 - 12lb test P-Line. |

Rob, I run between 15 to 25 pound test on my curados and castaic. I use the castaic for pitching jigs because it has the flipping bar that allows me to lock the spool without turning the handle. On my carolina rig and a few others with Curado 200B reels I run 20 lb. On my 100B Curados I run 15 pound big game. Anything less than that and you are at risk bass fishing most of the lakes up here. I absolutely love the curado reels and all of my reels (8 total) are one form of a Shimano -- mostly curado 100B or 200B. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Is there any big difference between the 100 to 200 besides line capacity Mike? |

Rob, that is all we use down here for marsh red/trout fishing. They will outcast any other reel for the money and have been holding up well. I just bought a Black team Daiwa to try. I'm already disappointed in it due to it does not throw nearly as far as the Curado. Will keep you guys updated. Only difference I know of between 100 and 200 is line. Think 100 hold 120 of 12lb compared to 150 of 12. You will not be disappointed if single jig, spoon, or top water bait fishing. |

That's what I need to know and thanks a ton guys! If it can handle that Coonie salt scene, I known it can handle the Texas PINS scene. Consider this trigger pulled! |

How far would PINS be from me anyway Rob!! I can't see giving up a weekend at beginning of June though when I can catch all the fish here I want. Would be a good trip though. |

It's roughly 6 hours from the Texas/LA border Wade just to hit the sand. It's another 1.5+ hours to roll down the sand to hit prime fishing. This all depends on the sand conditions though. The last trip I drove down there with my son Austin, we rolled across the sand 1.5 hours. The trip before, it took us all of 3 hours to ride the same distance (softer conditions). |

Rob, the difference between the 100 & 200 is not just line capacity, but profile also. The 100 is significantly smaller and fits my small hands well. The 200 is fine for me to fish with, but the 100 just feels like it was built for my hand and is extrememly comfortable for a whole day out on the lake casting and hauling in lunker largemouths. Bigun would loose a 100B in his hand... Also, the smaller profile allows me to more easily get my fingers around the front to keep contact with my line when fishing light weight plastics. I have a great handle on the reel and rod and reaction time to "taps" is very quick. I don't think you will be dissapointed with either. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

10+- hours. Not to bad I guess. We'll see when time comes depending on how charter fishing adventures pan out this year. |

It sounds like Picou has used these Curado's for quite awhile. I have fished with the 200b for a couple of years and I really like them. Very smooth and I haven't had any problems with them. After reading his last post, I may need to try the smaller profile. for what it's worth |

I like the 100 better. Also, I am right handed, but I like the left hand better. I dont know why. At first it is awkward, but I dont like to switch hands after I cast. It works awesome for a buzzbait that needs to be cranking right off the bank(as soon as it hits the water) Scott (Message edited by scooter25 on February 1, 2005) |
