The fishing club that I'm a member of is about to kick of the new season. I wanted to post information about the club incase anyone on the site was interested in joining. We are based out of the Sherman Texas Instruments plant. We are a small club with about 20 to 30 active members. The club is designed for fisherman on compressed work weak schedules. What I mean is our tournaments span a 4 day weekend. Anglers can fish one day out of Fri. - Mon. I know this sounds crazy but it works for us. It's not a club for the serious angler wanting to make a lot of money. Our entries are $10 for the tournament with optional side pots for big bass, big stringer and top team. Most tournaments are held within 1 1/2 hours from Sherman. If anyone is interested or has any questions post them here and I'll give more information. You can also check out our websit if you would like. The address is listed at the bottom of my posts. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. The first meeting is tomorrow night at 7:30. It will be at the child protective service office in Sherman. Our webpage has a map. Most of our members work at TI, but a non-TI employee can join if recommended by another member. It's about as laid back as can be. I usually fish on Fridays and there's only a couple other boats that fish with me. The majority of the club fishes on Mondays with a few boats on either weekend days. We keep a running points total for end of the year top angler and give prizes to the top six anglers. Usually top angler gets a jacket and the remaining top five get a choice of a plack or the money. If I think of anything else that is worth mentioning I'll add some more later. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. Wanted to add one more thing. There are no club dues, so if your even slightly interested I could add you to our member list. You could then watch the schedule and when you see a tournament you want to fish you can sign up. Also we vote on lakes to decide where tournaments are held. Nominations will be held at the first meeting. First 3 lakes will be nominated and then everyone will vote via the internet. That way people working and not able to make the meeting still have a say on the lakes. We usually vote on 2 to 3 lakes at a time through out the year. One more thing, there are also seperate divisions for women and children. We have a couple of wives fishing along with 2 to 3 kids. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

Just to add a little on what Mark said. I thought I could fish a little before joining the club 3 yrs ago. Was I wrong! I have learned tons since joining the club. Most of the guys are easy to talk to and will share information. If you have a competitive spirit, this is a great thing to be a part of and it doesn't cost you a ton of money. Since my divorce this past year, my son has been my fishing partner. It's a great way to spend time with your kids. It's a lot of fun! |

Meeting requirements is one of the main reasons I have not joined a bass club. I just cannot make meetings and I would definately not be able to make one in Sherman. If there is no meeting requirements and the apparent flexibility of the schedule, I see no reason for me not to sign up. Being in a bass club and fishing different lakes is one of the best ways to improve your ability to catch bass. This is exactly what I need because I am stuck on the same lakes with the same patterns that work year in, year out. Having to actually think about bait selection, fish location, etc... will be good for me. Thanks Tex & HB... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I told my wife I wanted to sign up so add me to the list. Let me know what you need from me. I like all 3 of those lakes so I have no arguments other than I would prefer to see the Roberts trip the last one out. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

That's great. The guys will be impressed that I recruited someone. Let me know what email address to use and I'll have you added to our member list. They should update the webpage in a couple of days with the lakes to vote on. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. Will the director be at the lake all 4 days? I noticed that some are paper and others are not. I assume that I will get more info as the time grows nearer. Also, where do I get the hat? Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I've added you to our email list. The webpage is usually up to date. We do send reminder emails when a vote is needed or when the next tournament or meeting scheduled. There is a copy of the by-laws on the webpage also. Welcome and hope you get to make several of the tournaments. |

Welcome to the club Picou, look forward to meeting you. I think you will have a good time. Texfisher is the tournament director this year. No, he won't be at each weigh in. There is always someone with a set of scales for non-paper tournaments. If it is a paper tournament, you have to have a partner. That is the honesty system. |

I can get you a hat. I'll try to get one before next week and I can give it to you if we get to go fishing next week. Once the first lake is selected I will set the tournament times and the weigh in site. Tournaments start on your hole so there is no required ramp to launch from. Also it is idividual tournaments so each person in the boat weighs their own fish. The only requirement is on the paper tournaments you have a partner. The top team side pot was added for partners wanting to compete as a team. I'll explain things more the next time I see you. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/
