Do you have the money for the rebuilt boat? Do you have the time and money to rebuild the other boat? How much is your time worth and how fast to you want to get on the water in this boat?

Personally, I know that I have enough things to work on in my life and adding a boat to that mix would mean absolutely no fishing for me. I would rather pay the extra and be on the water when I have spare time -- hard enough to find that already. Also, you know your neighbor and he would be a fool to sell you a lemon living right next door to you...

Stratos makes a good hull...

Of course, I know where you can get a 21 or 22 foot Skeeter bass boat 1997 or 98 model with very few hours on it (he said he doubts he has been in the boat for 40 hours total) I think it has a 250 yamaha, has been covered when not used, and the seller is very honest and trustworthy. He said he would take 20k for it. I have not checked around to see how good of a deal that is, but one trip to boat trader should answer that question.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Sturm how handy are you with projects like that and after it's all said and done, you will dump probably 3k+ into the project boat anyway.

Mike brought up some excellent points. (nice profile pic Mike).

im pretty handy (rebuilt a chevy 305 @age 15 )
but i dont think id be putting much work into it save the motor. if i put new carpet seats etc... id just tear them up and after i posted this i got to thinking the $800 dollar boat might be a little more difficult to bowfish off of i could build a deck (have to do it for either) but it is so small in the front (not like todays boats) then again it is just $800 im torn
mike did make good points (lemon and all)

Well it also depends on your fishing style too. If you bowfish a lot and like crappie and catfish more than running and gunning for bass...the project boat just might fit the bill.

Your handy enough for this project for sure. You need to triple check the transom and hull for weakareas. Also check the hull for soft spots up where the keel hits sand and mud (near the bow). As long as the hull is water worthy the rest shouldn't be too tough. Heck, you might be able to rhino line the inside hull (white) with a spray on system?

Sounds like your about to get into a catfish, crappie and bowfish work boat? This lemon might end up fitting the bill in grand style.

That seems a little high to me for an 88 model boat with a 150. I think you could find a better deal on the boat trader. I know in the Dallas area there's a place called Affordable boats in Wiley. They have a webpage and usually some pretty good prices. Might want to check it out. www.affordableboats.com

I have a friend who is going back and fourth about selling this boat. It is a 95 model 18' Cajun with a Johnson 130HP on it. He started it the other day and it fired right up! Let me know if you want to hook up. The boat is in Great Shape! He has been asking $7900 but I think he's nuts. You can make an offer though!

Now the Cajun is a boat I would be interested in for sure. To heck with soaking your butt in a bass boat, I'd rig this thing up for some bow casting action big time. That bow looks huge and I see a mount post for a seat up there. Most importantly, that boat will hold a couple of good sized coolers. Modify one cooler for a live bait well with oxygen circulation.

I would add a poling platform over that back engine and a long poling rod mount somewhere for the flats. Shoot gators, bowfish, catfish, bayfish and inshore and bass fish all rolled up into one boat.

Sturm that's the boat right there for you. Get it and we can head to Port Mansfield to see whats biting near PINS? :-)

He's in Vegas right now. As soon as he gets back or as soon as I hear from him - I'll let you know what he says - if he is in the sell mode I will send you his number and give yours to him. He's not into the internet thing so email dont work for him.

I'll keep you posted!

I'm getting ready to sell a 1994 Javelin with a 150hp evinrude intruder. a little over 2years ago I blew a piston and had a new factory block and power pack installed for $5,000.00. I also had the carpet replaced the seats recovered. It has a 67lbs motorguide trolling motor. I had the gelcoat replaced at North Texas Fiberglass but he did a poor job and it is chipping up. I just bought my a 2004 Triton TR21X so I need to unload this Javelin. Picou know this boat. $5,500.00 is the asking price. It will be ready in about two weeks.

I know that it is faster than my 18.5 foot skeeter... :-)

You got any recent pics of the boat Oz??? I think Wes should buy it and keep it up here so he doesn't have to haul the skeeter... He can have a boat in North Texas and one in Seguin... :-)
