thought I'd post a couple pics from last night. Any thoughts as to what kind of bass this is? Guadalupe, Smallmouth, hybrid? Right at dark I hooked a nice female that was 21 inches and heavy. Sorry for the pic. quality, I don't have a flash on my video camera. Had a nice evening with a good friend, the weather was great and we caught a couple fish. I love fishing this time of year, that Sharelunker might bite on the next cast. Good luck everybody. |

Looks like a pure Guadalupe to me! Nice sized one, too! Is there a pretty good current in Town Lake? Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

About half the day the turbines run at the dam and the current is strong. Its the structure in the back of this pic. This fish was caught day before yesterday by my fishing buddy's brother. He's got the arm stretch working in this pic! How about this fish. Guadalupe? |

That looks more like a Spotted Bass. Does Town Lake have Spots?!? Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

Don't know. Town Lake is downstream of all the highland lakes. But the TPWD website shows no listing for spots in the water body records from TL, Austin, or Travis. We catch quite a few that look just like the one at the bottom. |

quote:Taxa lists for the fauna of Barton Springs Pool include 20 species of fish, 3 species of turtles, 1 species of salamander, and numerous families of invertebrates. Fish species reported in Barton Springs Pool during the past 5 years are native and non-native and range from large schools of thousands of Mexican tetras (Astyanax mexicanus) to single specimens of Asian grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella) and American eel (Anguilla rostrata). Other large fishes found in Barton Springs Pool include channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus), flathead catfish (Pylodictus olivaris) and gray redhorse sucker (Moxostoma congestum). Major predatory fishes include green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus), bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus), redbreast sunfish (Lepomis auritus), longear sunfish (Lepomis megalotis), spotted sunfish (Lepomis punculatus), spotted bass (Micropterus punctulatus), largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), and Guadalupe bass (Micropterus treculi). Many of the smaller sized fishes found in Barton Springs are representatives of the following species: central stoneroller (Campostoma anomalum), red shiner (Cyprinella lutrensis), blackstripe topminnow (Fundulus notatus), mosquito fish (Gambusia affinis), greenthroat darter (Etheostoma lepidum), and the Texas log perch (Percina carbonaria).
Doesn't Barton Springs pool flow into Town Lake? Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.

I'll take Guadalupe for a Bronze Fisherman Award Pat... Guadalupe, spotted, Kentucky... No matter what part of the country you call it -- NICE FISH CLARK!!!! Congrats on getting the line stretched and showing us how it's done In-Town.... Start getting some weights on these babies and maybe you can qualify for the Royal Bohemian. I just knew I should have added a category for spots, kentuckys, and guadalupes... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Nice fish. I think that last one has to be a spot just because the mouth appears to be so small. If it is that's a nice one. Sounds like you guys are on some fish. It should only get better in the next few weeks. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

Barton Creek does flow into Town Lake. Spotted Bass... I knew they weren't Largemouths, smallmouths or a Guadalupe, but thought they were hybrids of some sort. Thanks Rudey. And thanks Mike! |

Exactly Picou! Once that Gulf warms up.....it's gonna be another story. Camera, truck, sand and sea. Shopping around for a "water - proof" digital camera housing right now. The scene control madness will go to a new level. |
