I have been wanting to do that for some time now... I'll keep my feelers out. I have not checked with Rader's Fish & Game who does all the Mexico trips (El Salto, etc...) but I think they also have some Peacock bass trips. I'll see what I can dig up. BTW: Welcome to the Ramp Cary...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Cary T welcome to the ramp. I lived in Miami for a couple of years and the fresh water canal system that feeds into Biscayne Bay. Those canals in Miami are littered with Peacock Bass, Oscars, Black Bass and the occasional snook or tarpon (tolerate fresh water). They hang around structure like large mouth bass and the Oscars (5lb big btards) would loiter on beds in about 3ft of water along the shorelines. If you found cattails growing in 2ft or 3ft of water, cast at the shade side if it covers deeper water.

I'm under the impression some reason there are quite a few pits in Florida that are full of peackock bass also. All I've ever heard about going in Venezuela is that it is rather expensive. |

Yes Wade, they thrive down there. They have potassium pits there (hit under ground water) and they are clear as can be. I used to fish for large mouth bass on those pits and my biggest was 24 inches long (didn't weigh him before he was released). She was a stout fish and hit a chrome 1/2 oz Rattletrap fished over boulders in 8ft of water. |
