Just wanted to share with my fresh water friends,,
Some of us from TRB got together this past weekend for a winter fishing trip to Baffin Bay. The weather wasn't the best but it separated the men from the boys, and we still had some good results,, here's a few pics
this is Bayseeker's crew Friday afternoon

This is the results of BigDog's Saturday trip

Here's a nice Red Mike caught,,32 inches !!!

Our very own D'Mo with his personal best trout, 22 inches and a little change !!

And here's Dale with the local Village Idiot

We had about 26 fishermen and 6 boats show up,, like I said before the weather wasn't exactly good, but the guys showed their grit and caught some good fish,,, I cooked for the group Friday and Saturday night and didn't even get to fish until Sunday, the guys learned a few things about Baffin bay,,, We had a good time and look foreward to it next time,, and if any of you "Perch Jerkers" are up to it, you're invited to the next one !!!!!

Looks like you guys had a great time. I've never tried wade fishing and I've only fished for specs and reds one time out of a boat. Wish it wasn't such a long drive from North Texas. Good writeup. Looks like your group was well represented.

You have NO idea!

We drug our 21ft. Sea Pro down there. Didn't catch a single fish. It was 804 round trip miles, and $300 in gas. Good thing it isn't just about catching fish HUH? :-)

The driving isn't the problem, it's the time. My wife isn't quite as understanding about me going fishing since the 3rd kid arrived. If I was free to go I would be on my way as soon as I got off work. Its been 4 years since I've been to port aransas. Last time I was there we got into some small specs and I caught one red. That red was the best fighting fish for its size that I ever caught. I've been wanting to go again ever since. Just haven't been able to work things out.

Man that is some great fish right there and great sow for D-Mo... He needs to get back and give us something in writing so I can give him a "Bronze Fisherman" award.

Mike... Is that you with the big redfish???

Way to stick out the weather and put some great fish in the box. Post the link to the full story on TRB so we can make it over there and check it out.

Big_p, glad the trip was worth it fish or not... Long drive but probably one heck of a time for sure...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Wow, I havn't been over here in a while! Just startin to get my brain back in fishin mode (quail season ends this weekend).

We had a great time down there but I think standin in saltwater all day makes you wake up with a headache:-). Anyway, we managed to scratch out a few fish despite the wind/rain, but I'll be glad when the water warms up enough to leave the waders at home! I took about a 3 1/2 foot swell over the back early saturday and I aint dried out yet!

I'll try to check in a little more often around here.
Fishing is alot like sex: Even when it's bad it's still pretty good!

For his Cameo appearance and laying the smack on some excellent Baffin Bay trout... D-Mo's first Bronze Fisherman award :-)

Congrats on a great late winter catch Dale... Sorry, no Bohemians given without knowing the weight -- kinda hard to put 'em on the scale while wade fishing huh... :-)

lookin forward to it... I should probably drag the boat down there and the family too and let them play on the beach while we go fishing... :-) If you know good access that does not need a boat, that is even better because it would be a long haul pullin the boat.

Mike,, My employer has a lease on Copano Bay. They put in a pier with lighting for night fishing. If you're serious I think we could make a weekend there. I can pull the travel trailer down for you and the family. We could take the wife and kiddos to the beach during the day and do some fishing at night.. Let me know and I'll look into reserving it..
It wouldn't require you to pull anything down as I have a boat that we could use if needed..
Shoot me an e-mail and we'll see what we can do. Might even be able to entertain a few more, but they's have to bring their own campers, cause I only have one. But there are Camper hookups there.
Heck, lets get a trip together !! See how many folks we can get to come down..

I'm all over night fishing in the bay under lights... :-)

I like this idea for sure... It is much easier on me when I can include the family. What months are better? I personally like September for night fishing but that is West Galveston talking there. I have no clue about down there. Throw out some possible dates and I will try and set it in stone with the wife.

The fall is good, I went there in October and did pretty well,,
The last thing I have planned is June 10-12, the PINS trip. If you would like to wait we can do it during the summer before school starts, or in the fall, whatever you'd like.
The facility has a pretty large pavillion. Tell ya what, lets talk about August or Sept, and see how many we can get interested.
My employer insists that all visitors sigh waivers divulging them of any responsibility..
Everything else is free for employees and guests..
