Charles and I headed out EARLY Sunday morning hoping for a few Lake Fork lunkers. The weather was cold, in the lower 40's, and raining/misting on and off. We got to the boat ramp just a little after "shootin' light" and got ready to launch. In short order I was backing the boat down the ramp and proceeded to drop the right hand side off the edge of the ramp where there was a substanstial dropoff. BANG, as the spring shackles hit the concrete. It was a nice little hole that neither Charles or I saw 'til it was way to late! Luckily, Charles drives a Ford, so with no problem I pulled the trailer right back up on the ramp and backed him to a more convential launch position. I parked the truck, hopped in the boat, and we were on our way. We made our way to an area unfamiliar to both of us and decided where we would start. The first cast came at about 7:40, and the first fish hit the bottom of the boat at about 7:45. I caught a nice little slot fish on a red Rattle Trap. Picture made, back to fishing. Less than 10 minutes and 40 yard later, I had another BIG fish at the side of the boat that decided she didn't want to join us up in the thin air. I know that nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught, but this fish was an easy 8+. Oh well, wasn't meant to be but it was fun while it lasted! So with a shake and a heckuva splash, she was gone. We were off to a dang good start and PUMPED about the rest of the day!!! We didn't catch another fish. We spoke to some other people who had about the same experience we did...a very short morning bite followed by a bite-free rest of the day (including one guy from Arkansas with a 10.4 that was in the slot!). But, we had a heckuva time, and looking forward to the next trip!

The fish were not the only ones wet and sluggish... Congrats on getting out and gettin one in the boat. It was a rough weekend of fishing for sure. Seems to be the common thread for Sunday on Fork that I have read, fish were on fire for 10 - 20 minutes then shut down. They turned on again at the end of the day for another 10 minites or so. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Better to have had her on and lost her than to have never had her on at all. Great writeup Rudey. Looks like the fishing didn't improve much from Saturday. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

Nice job, Rudey! Didn't you say someone else was with you?...Oh, yea...Charles. Hey, Charles...where's you fish? J/K At least y'all got to be on the lake...which is something I haven't done since the last time we all went. Way to get out there! "Men and fish are alike. Can you front end someone throwing a rattle trap? If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/
