I've posted this on another site but this seems the proper place to talk about crappie fishing. I found a little bitty creek about 5 minutes from my house that is loaded with crappie. I've been fishing this creek for a month off and on and have yet to come home with a small stringer. I fished for 20 minutes right before dark last night and came back with 8 keepers. Here are a few misc. pictures of my catches over the last 3 weeks. Are any of y'all catching crappie right now? If so, what lake/creek etc? And what are you catching them on? All of mine have been caught on shiners. I've thrown out a curly tailed jig but their wantin' the real deal.

White Perch Jerkin Johnny fills a cooler...

Congrats on a nice mess of crappie. That is great to hear that they are moving up the creeks. Time for me to get away from that bass fishing and get some freezer meat... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

LOL....I finally got around to frying some up this past Wednesday evening. That Zatarains fish fry is hard to beat. I've eaten plenty of specks, reds, flounder, white bass, catfish etc. but crappie beats them all in my opinion.

Nice mess of fish. It's been about 4 weeks since I've been crappie fishing. I've been focusing on the largemouth. I will start checking the creeks at ray roberts pretty soon.

Amen on the dust! :-)

Put some brush out today around my grandpa's fishing dock. Water was extremely muddy. Caught one pretty good black male up in about a foot of water. It is getting close here.

Well, I went back Friday evening for an hour and half and came back with 16 nice keepers. Same 'ol story, I ran out of shiners and left them biting. Here's a picture of my Friday evening catch. A buddy of mine has been trying to find the crappie out on the main lake that this creek feeds into but has only been able to pick up one or two. For the past week I've told him to stop screwing around on this lake and to hit the creek. Well I drove by this little creek Sunday morning and he was there. He hadn't caught a darn thing. He was fishing 15 feet too far down the creek and he didn't have his hook far enough below his bobber. I told him where to drop it....then it was on. First off, the bobber never goes under. You can see it act differently with a little bit of bobbing, going off to the side or even a little pop. When you see this you lift your line and their is a crappie on it. I stayed their for 10 minutes and he already put 10 in the bucket. I called him later on and he caught 25. Hopefully this rain won't wash this creek out. If it does then it is over with.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, prove you know what you are doing...

Congrats to you Johnny on another tailgate full of crappie. That's gonna be some fine eatin there.
