Texfisher and I headed to Fork to give our shot at putting a heavy stringer entry on the board for the first Texbass club tourney. We hit the water early and decided to run up to the NE side of the lake to avoid the crowds. We found water temps in the upper 50's and full of grass and other vegitation. It took some time but finally I landed our first fish of the day on splitshot lizard -- too small to weigh in for the tourney.

We busted our tails fishing every bait we could think of and Tex ended up boating another small fish on a spinner bait -- his big fish bait... :-) He would not let me take a picture of this one and abruptly tossed it back into the water. Not long after that he pulled out his secret bait and hooked into another one but lost it on the way back to the boat.

That fish was:
|-----------------ACTUAL SIZE---------------------|

We moved over to another area and kept fishing several different baits trying to get bit. It must have been 11:00am before I boated my first weighing fish -- 4.02 lbs on the splitshot lizard.

We talked to guy who claimed that he boated 4 fish over 10 pounds in the timber last week and he suggested we get off the banks. So we figured what we were doing was not working and would give his advice a try. We pitched the trees for a couple hours and decided we were doing better on the shorelines and headed back to what we were doing before and I boated another weigher on a texas rigged lizard -- almost made 2 pounds.

We were running out of time and decided to try new water so we ran down to the minnow bucket area and saw several nice fish cruising the shallows but the only fish that bit was another small bass caught by Tex on a spinnerbait -- again he wouldn't allow a picture. I need to work on his team player skills... :-)

We had a good time and I look forward to fishing with you again Mark. One of these days we will boat something worthy of a Royal Bohemian... Let me know when you are ready to go again.

We talked to seveal other boats and it seems like nobody was catching numbers and our daily catch was about par for the day. One guy said he boated a 7 pounder first off but not much of anything else the rest of the day. I ended up with a total weigh in amount of around 5.5 pounds.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Now its a team thing. In the boat it was me against you.

I guess I'll have to take you to one of my home lakes and try for a little redemtion.

Had a great time. It was good to learn some new areas of the lake even if the fish didn't cooperate. Hopefully I'll catch some fish worthy of a picture the next time we go. Good luck at PC Wednesday.
If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related.

Good job guys!

PQ, keep figuring out all the bad spots so you can bring me to a good one when I get up there. :-)

lol Tex... :-) We will go to one of your favorite lakes next time. I need to learn Ray Bob one of these days so maybe we go there next time. It is fixing to get too crowded on Fork for my liking.

We could do a Bonham trip and just meet there.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
