In the interest of finding a middle-ground for our future "Fishnanza" get together, we need to have an idea of where everyone is from. So, please, sound off here, and if you're from a little-no-name-place like we are, include a point of reference like this: Keith and I are from... Sulphur Springs (82 miles East of Dallas) Thanks! Dean, The salt has been hit or miss the past few weeks, the "hits" have been VERY good, while the "misses" have been VERY bad. With the weather stabilizing now it should be on very soon, this steady weather we have right now should prime things perfectly for that sunrise wade on Good Friday on the south shoreline of East Matagorda. Let me know when/if you make it down here to the coast. www.texasrodbenders.com

Here is the map you requested Picou. The red stars indicate the general location of memebers posted so far. The big blue star indicates the general location of Lake Fairfield. I doubt we could get it any closer to satisfy such a large group. April 30 works for me. |

Can I beg my way onto someone's bowfishing boat for a few hours of Tilapia shooting? I've been to Fairfield bowfishing one time about 10 years ago and that is some of the best fish I ever sank my teeth into. |

I drove it this weekend. Under perfect driving conditions, which I think I experienced yesterday, it took me 2.5 hours from La Marque and 2 hours from Fairfield to my house in Arlington. Now if there is a wreck it is a different story. The southbound lanes of 45 yesterday were backed up from the Richland Chambers lake crossing to north of Corsicana and the Gander Mountain store. They were just sitting there. When I went down Friday though there wasn't a problem there. |

Thanks, Sturm1022. I've got my own bow fishing equipment. I used to do a lot of bow fishing, I had an 18' former Game Warden boat with a 175 Johnson on a tandem axel trailer. It had a 13 HP Honda fan motor for the shallows when the moss, stumps, and vegetation was thick. When the water was more open, I used a 70 Lb thrust trolling motor and ran 10- 500 watt lights off a Honda 6500 watt generator. I got burnt out (and got married) and sold the boat, but I still have my bow, reels and arrows. I haven’t been bow fishing in about 10 years, but sure would like to go again. We’ve got a center console Striper fishing boat, but it doesn’t even have a trolling motor so it would be useless for bow fishing. |
