...and by "cool" I don't mean one of those cool FishingTexas.net or TexasBowhunter.com caps. I mean the literal cool! Something "not as hot" as the thick, basically unvented, cotton caps that are all the rage right now. Probably something in lightweight nylon, probably mesh vented, not too "Mark Sosan" if you know what I mean....

Any suggestions?

You looked at Academy Rudey? They have some "Not So Mark Sosan" hats that look to be pretty "not so hot" I think most are made by Magellan.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

How about this one Rudey? :-)

Seriously my grandfather has a straw hat that has a green visor in the bill of it. I have looked through 47 pages of google searches for straw hats and can't find one like it. I do know though that Tractor Supply has them. They are about $5 a piece. Last a LONG time. The aren't on the TSC website either. They are really cool. They don't trap the heat under the lid like most straw hats. I'll take a pic of his when I go down tomorrow for you. I would be wise to get one of my own as I keep my hair short and am a prime candidate for skin cancer.

BTW does anyone know where I can get a viking helmet like the one I posted above.

Yeah, I used to wear a straw hat all the time...they work good.

But I'm looking for more of a nylon type. I didn't like how the straw acted when it got wet! :-O

It really isn't a straw but more of a woven one made out of straw.

Charles, I've found some similar to that that are mesh vented for about an inch, inch and a half, above where that one says Columbia. Much like this:

hat

I started to get it, but thought I would get some more ideas from everyone.

I like the long bill on this one, but it may be a little too Sosan....

Check out the sun hats at REI

REI Hats

I stumbled into a Chicago REI store the other day (bored) and they have an excellent selection of sun/cool lids.

Just make sure the one you pick doesn't match any of these. There's only so many cool lids available out there and these are taken :-)

There's an REI just down LBJ from me. Might have to check them out.

BTW, Rob. I've got a lid just like the one you're wearing. Don't remember where I got it, though!?! :-O
