After I got the concrete work prepped and took my daughter to her soccer game we decided to hook up the boat and head to Lake Lavon for some family night fishing fun. I love these trips with the family and I hope they are ones that the kids will remember forever. Of course, I can only handle so many of these because it really cuts into my fishing time... :-)

We arrived at the lake and the wind was howling so we put in at a sheltered park and headed to our favorite family spot. Once the boat was tied, the lights set up, and everyone positioned it was time to start fishing. Once rod was already rigged and it was Corey's. I minnowed her and she was off. By the time I had the next rod rigged Corey already had the first fish in the boat -- under sized crappie. Then I got Jessica's done and she was off to the races. Before I got Connie's rod finished Corey and Jessica had both put a keeper in the livewell. Finally, I had all 3 girls fishing -- to my dismay... :-)

It was not uncommon for all three of them to have a fish on the hook waiting for me to take it off and put on another minnow. I reminded my oldest (Jessica) that she promised to help me by taking off her own fish if they did not swollow the hook so I got a little relief...

At least an hour had gone by and I still had not been able to tie on a jig for my pole. I had at least gotten the jig head onto the string so when a few moments presented itself I finished the knot. It was at least another half hour before I got to put the jig in the water. The fish were slamming my jig and I caught as many as I could when my hands were not full of fish or hooks. Jessica decided to take one of mine off the hook for me since I was re-tying her line after a swollowed hook.

We had a great time fishing together and they wanted to head home around 11:15 so we left the fish biting. I cannot wait to get them out there again for some more fun. Total fish caught -- who knows, total fish kept -- 6 crappie & 11 sandbass. these fish still had eggs in them so it will be a few more weeks of good fishing I am sure.

Here are some more pics from the night:

I just love seeing the smiles on those faces! :-) That's what it's all about. Our boys already like to fish, but in a couple of years, they will be unstopable!

Congrats on the nice fish!

Great story and pics Mike. I'll be glad when my little ones are old enough to do a trip like that.
If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related.

Good job guys! Is there anything better than getting to go fishing with the family and everyone having fun? Those kids, and you will remember that night for years to come.

Looks like the family had a great time. The girls will never forget the good times that they had. Years from now they will be saying: Dad do you remember when? Keep up the fun and the good times!

PQ you have indeed been blessed.

Your girls are a hoot and I can just imagine them out on the water. They grow way too fast, go as much as you can.
