We have been fertilizing hay fields and pastures all week and finally got to go fishing today. We caught a load. Some real nice ones too.

WE planned on a earily start today but
After taking care of the pasture aerator, we again hit lake Conroe. We had 15 perch 2 lbs or better and most had spawned out. Several in the 2 3/4 lb range. I need A REST

Piggies & Perchies... Someone's been livin good...

Ya'll deserve every award available for all the barn doors ya'll have caught. Those have got to be the most monster crappie pictures gathered in one place. Toss in the FAT hog and ya'll should be out of freezer space very soon. :-)

Great stuff M&M, thanks for sharing with us -- I love it...

Y'all sure have it going on. Whereabouts do y'all live? I live just South of the Lake Conroe Dam area off of Old Hwy. 105. We have hogs in this area but I've never tried to trap any but sure would like to give it a go. What kind of trap do y'all use and what do you bait it with? Good going on the slabs. It looks like y'all will be eating crappie well into next year.

We went to a different area today and caught a bunch, but they weren't as big as usual. I'm not use to having to measure a perch. Most of the big fish are in 5/6 ft of water and holding on brush. They will hit anything, shinner or jig. I mostly fish with the minner and Michael hurts them with the jig, black/chart and black/pearl with a pink 1/8 oz. head. He is a firm beliver in small line when fishing with a jig.. 8# test is too big. Slip cork using dental floss as a stop works great for me..
Johnnytx... We built our own trap and use corn soaked in diesel.. Nothing will eat is but a pig.. They love diesel

Ya'll are simply amazing... Congrats on some more fine crappie. Great to read that they are still full down there. That would mean they are far from spawning out up here. I think a trip with the kiddos is in order... Thanks for sharing.

We went bass fishing yesterday evening at lake Livingston and caught 6, which we turned all back. Today went to Conroe and fished for the deep water perch, We ended up with 17 good keepers and must have turned back 50 small ones

We have put several hundred in our freezer. That is the only type of fish we eat. We also own 6 ponds that are full of catfish, but i do not like to eat them. One pond has 700 hybrid bluegill in it and we have been feeding them for 3 1/2 years. Now thats some fine eating, maybe even better than the crappie. Anybody got any youngsters that want to catch some big cats, give me a call. We cook fish all kinds of ways. I get burned out on fried. Check out the receipe for Red Rouex fish

Hey bluecat, I might have to take you up on that fishing one day. I've got a 5 year old that is a fising fool and his favorite type of fish is a catfish. I've got a pond myself but it's only about 3/4 of an acre. We have bass, crappie and catfish in it and feed 'em everyday but like you, I don't like to eat the cats out of it. You are on the north side of the lake, right?
